Nothing like a good intrateam challenge to awaken the lurking competitive nature of the team! In truth, both Minnie and I were chasing Georgina's time and distance. Minnie beat her on distance (hooyah!), but couldn't catch her on time. Good work by all our teammates!

Georgina's been my rabbit before, though I doubt she knows we exist, let alone that she's being chased down, on occasion! (I did just notice that some UK teams now have a forum presence on this side of the pond.) It's interesting, the diverse factors that motivate us ... whatever it takes, eh?Kona2 wrote:Nothing like a good intrateam challenge to awaken the lurking competitive nature of the team! She's A Meter Millionaire!!
Whoop, whoop and hooyah! The first million is in the meter piggy bank and we've not even finished the first QUARTER of the erging year! Robyn is on fire! Congratulations on achieving a ONE million meter season ... and so quickly! We wish you many, MANY more!
All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 7.20.15
Welcome to new teammate Dean D! Here's wishing you many good erg sessions, and much good camaraderie!
Ok, I still have the Summer Sprints on my mind. Some may say "get over it." Maybe it is with some chagrin that I realize that I hold back a bit in reserve in my athletic endeavors, and the realization that instead of self-limiting, I could increase my ability. Something to think about indeed. With bicycling, there is the hill climb...and with that, the objective is to find a pace that you can manage, and just grind it out. To some extent, rowing machine work has been the same...just find a pace and get the meters done. Going all out for 100 m or a minute, and reaching a point where the legs would just not push any more was a new thing. Gasping for air was another new thing. In fact, had to rest up between the 100 m attempts, or one minute attempts simply because I thought I might pop a gasket! One obviously doesn't ride a bike all out until you can't go any further...because you have to get back from wherever you went. Or at least be able to make that phone call that says come pick me up!
Here's a link to the latest website of interest http://www.ergrowing.com - this website looks to be oriented towards getting an individual ready for the CRASH B 2K sprints, and it occurs to me that this is a good time of year to start working on these things for those who might be interested. Kristine had expressed some interest in participating this next year, and I'm sure that we could coerce Minnie into it...and bg has already led the way on these more than once! Could this be the throwing of the galactic gauntlet...compete in the CRASH B's or not?
Meanwhile, there are milestones to celebrate...and some are quite special. I know that at the end of the season last year I was disappointed that I had left my total meters short of a million, and vowed that "this year will be different!" The year had just slipped away, so to speak. Received a quick note from Norma that yesterday she surpassed her total for the previous year, a year made memorable for surviving some difficult treatments and times. She had kept plugging away, though, and had finished the season not surprisingly with a palindrome of 600,006 m. Respectable. And now, here we are at maybe 22 percent of the rowing season used up, and she has already passed that total. Hooyah, and way to go I say! Well done and keep going!

Ah, February in Boston. Could anywhere be less appealing!? (Remember bg, the deep freeze, and the donut shop eviction?) It would take a lot of lobster dinners to make that an interesting thought. One would have to buy winter clothes!Kona2 wrote: ... this website looks to be oriented towards getting an individual ready for the CRASH B 2K sprints, and it occurs to me that this is a good time of year to start working on these things ...
