(re) paint old model c which color?

Post by kajak » July 20th, 2015, 4:39 am

Hi,
Just bought an old rusty model c last week, now I want to bring it back to its original shape as much as possible.
I'm trying to find out the color code of the grey part, anyone knows where to find this?

paint color model c

Post by kajak » July 20th, 2015, 5:34 am

I'm fixing up an old model c and was wandering if anyone knows where/if I can find the color code of the grey part of the rower? That would help me to re paint the rower.
thanks

Every paint manufacturer has different color codes last I checked. Why not just get some samples from your paint store and match it visually? Or if you need a workout and funny looks from other customers, you could bring the front half of your Model C into the store so they could use their color computer to get a match. Or better yet, have some fun - this is your chance to have a hot pink rowing machine!

Thanks Jag but I have limited my wife the amount of the color pink in the house and that limit has been reached long time ago.
I have the tendency to get old stuff and try to restore it in its original condition as much as possible (not talking about my wife anymore, obviously).
Your first two proposals are actually not that bad, I think I'll go for the first option - although the second might be more fun
I found an app that gives the color 'numbers' in RGB - this might speed up my local hardware store to get me the right color

Always dangerous to resurrect an old thread.
I recently repainted the grey parts of my model C
It was a great match and it matched really well without needing to be fully repainted.
I did remove both sides of the fan housing to repaint them.

model number 388168
colour: Satin Coastal Gray

Ant.Perry would you mind posting pictures of your paint job if it’s convenient? I’ve also been meaning to do this job

@FreshCrabsJustCaught Here’s a photo of my Model C which is undergoing gradual restoration/upgrade. The flywheel back cover has been painted with Satin Coastal Gray, purchased from Hammerbarn, while frame is still the original paint (to be repainted eventually).

To my eye, the colors are a very close match with the Coastal Gray just looking fresher.

Thanks ant.perry for resurrecting this thread!

If you're happy with the color of your rower, but it is just dinged up, any paint store can match it. Just take in a sample. Maybe the front leg.

If you contact Concept 2, they might give you the recipe.
