Tristan was amazing yesterday doing the sprints. My rower moved several feet and the breeze cooled the house down.
My string of good luck continues. I got bit by a dog this morning while biking. Rode the 4miles home bleeding. Just in from hospital, many stitches and a leg
2 times size. Have to watch for red streaks and fever. Sheriff is looking for the dog and will quarantine for 10 days if found. Otherwise rabies shots,oh happy day. So much for me thinking I am Saint Francis

OH NO JIM :o I sure hope they find the dog and that you heal quickly. I love dogs, but when I was running they were often the bane of my existence. Will Rogers one said, "Diplomacy is the art of saying 'nice doggie' until you can find a rock".

Gee, Jim, that really is some bad luck you don't deserve. Hope you heal up quickly and that you won't have to do the shots.

Here is his score from the board.
The mighty Tristan B, 17 USA LUNA-TICS time for 100M 00:16.3, 399m Meters for 1 minute, Average split for the two pieces 1:18.3. Very impressive score. I love seeing a young person taking up this sport along with all he is doing. Keep it up man.

Sorry you are going through that ordeal Jim. Be well.

I had the odd dog bothering me and my guide dogs over the years. Once my dog was walking sort of funny I stopped and figured out that a pet dog on a leash was sniffing my dog's butt. The owner said it's ok. I informed him that it wasn't ok. I then made some parallel comparisons and sent him scurrying away in a hurry. haha. Distracting a dog guide while she is working is not a good or safe idea. I do not possess the mathematical skill require to determine the number of ways that can go bad.

I should be joining you guys with a few meters tomorrow. finally!
LT.

Re: Who Let The Dog(s) Out

Post by Kona2 » July 18th, 2015, 10:02 am

Jim, here's hoping that the Sheriff can find out who let the dog(s) out and that you're healing well. I have had more issues with dogs, coyotes and javelinas while walking my dogs than when riding my bike, but perhaps this says I haven't ridden my bike enough. I always maintain that it's good to share our stories here because you never know who else will benefit from them. Jim's dog bite was a good reminder to me that instead of thinking that this sort of stuff won't happen to me, I have an opportunity to be a little more proactive. I tapped into my cycling resources, both human and internet-based, and received recommendations for the same product from several sources. It's called Halt! Dog Repellent, and is a pepper spray based product. I'm going to provide a couple of links here: one to a review by a sante fe cyclist who commutes, and another to one from the crazy bike guy. I hope they are helpful.

https://www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/?doc_id=194 Crazy Guy on A Bike appears to recommend a second product from Fox Labs at end of his article....

Jim,
Been there! In my case, they found & quarantined the dogs (2). I must have smelled like Alpo & looked like meals on wheels. Hope like heck they find the perpetrators and wish you a quick recovery.

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 7.17.15

Image Give it another go! Surely you can lower your time and increase meter output!

Hooboy! Have to hand it to Concept2 for giving us something new to think about with our erging efforts ! Just think about how many erg sessions have been a "get it done...it doesn't have to be pretty" kind of session. Slogging I call it. Then along comes Richard T and says "hey, we should be doing this" and several of us take the bait. As some say, there's a lesson from the very first pull of the chain. And that's not all. This sprinting can flow into other parts of your world. There I was, pulling into the park n ride garage at the regional bus yesterday...and looked at my clock....yikes...bus leaves in two minutes and I'm on the third floor of this parking garage with the bus stop down by the highway. Did my best imitation of Usain Bolt and flew down the stairs, past the curious onlookers and hopped into the bus 15 seconds before it pulled away from the stop. Couldn't stop grinning for a few minutes - I hadn't done a sprint like that since I don't remember when. Kind of satisfying to know that one can do these things!

Season meters as of 78/365 = 29,590,504 m

Total meters on the day = 242,007 m

My thoughts of the sprints? Unparalled badass little pieces!

I hadn't paid any attention to this challenge, because I never mix "moi" and "sprint" in the same thought. But, I do acknowledge a competitive streak, and the above baiting (hah!) resulted in me doing my version of sprinting, late last night. Now, I can't wait to do these pieces again, this weekend, having thought of a couple of obvious "duhs" which may (or may not!) add a meter or two to my efforts. However, the sprints totally messed up my regularly scheduled palindrome!
