Hey guys.

Just wanted to say I’ve been keeping an eye on the team. I will be joining you guys in a few more days again. I can’t wait. I think it’s been since June 21 since I been able to hit the saddle.

Way to go Jim! Hero indeed.

Funny, I’ve been watching my position on the team go down. I always get two feelings. Darn I slipped more. And great job everyone. I have to say, the second one is the stronger emotion by far.
Keep on rocking.

Image Whoa....thought I saw a flying hammer go by....it must be Thor...and there goes a Bike Friday, too....welcome back to Marty!

By now, some of you will have discovered that the Super Sprint Challenge is a bit of a butt kicker, and that the list of people is not searchable by team. Still, my name is on that list now, and I was surely wishing that there had been a way to do those sprints while I was in Tucson...my time would have been awesome. I may play around with damper settings, etc., a couple more times and see what kind of numbers I get. Richard T has the best series thus far, although some are quite close. I hope dtudury does the Super Sprints....I bet he comes up with some amazing times too. I thought it was hard to start the sprint from a dead stop, though. Erg. Give it a go, and see what YOU think!

Season meters as of 76/365 = 28,559,521 m

Total meters on the day = 337,422 m

Great Job on Sprints K2 Now we need bg and Chris and 90 others on Team to give it ago . It only takes 1min and 20 seconds. A lot shorter than 1hr

That was a "morning after" row - the morning after a Summer Sprints evening.
I did two rounds of the sprints. Yeah, you went hard, but for such a short time. And after only a few minutes, I was willing to try again. I would have guessed I needed more recovery time, but that didn't feel true. The 2nd round went faster than the 1st, so I figured I must be learning something. The next morning, I concluded I was learning the wrong thing, that I was only learning to be willful. Just some little twinges, but enough to know I should be smarter about this.
So any tips from the pros? I normally row with the damper at 3. I did the sprints at 5. I wasn't willing to go higher, but now I'm tempted to try again at 4. That might seem backwards thinking for a sprint - but the next day, based on where the twinges were, it seemed that I wasn't really recruiting my whole body in the row. I was just trying to muscle through a higher damper setting, and that little successes didn't mean I was really on the right track.

Here is what I did worked up to it. Tried 30 sec rest a minute tried again worked up to a minute. I like to sprint so I warmed up with a 5k. Tried short strokes fast return worked best for me high stroke rate 30+ Damper on 5.5 I know when I lived in Flagstaff Az. I was able to get way better times. But it is Higher than Denver I think it was less air to move that did it But also got thinking. That I Flew a plane a lot at higher altitude so maybe that was it Never had a problem with Altitude. But we are all different I 'm far from a pro. Just having fun

Sprint. Moi? Surely you jest. I was built for the long haul.
I'll see if I can convince dtudury to post some speed on the family's behalf.

Well, I'm built for comfort, not for speed, but I gave it a shot  Let's just say, as far as altitude, I fly "LOW AND SLOW" :?

Those sprints do have some paybacks the next day, don't they? I did try the damper on highest setting for one of my "sessions". Wasn't even sure I was going to move the chain there for a little bit, and decided that was not a good strategy. Too low a damper setting didn't work either. It had to be just right, Goldilocks. It may only be one minute twenty, but sure makes you think about it for a lot longer than that. Add sprints to walking the golf course for our tourney today, and I'm just whipped. Time for a beer for sure.
