The new summer sprints rankings
C2 is not awarding numerical placement to unverified times and distances (IND) which are best in age group although they are listing them. Anyone know how many places this applies to? In wife's 60-69 category, top 2 100m times have no placement numeral. Jack

Re: The new summer sprints rankings
Assuming that the number assignment practice would be the same as it is for other distances/times, it applies to just the first place. On a casual check, I spotted at least one IND assigned a number 2.jackarabit wrote:C2 is not awarding numerical placement to unverified times and distances (IND) which are best in age group although they are listing them. Re: The new summer sprints rankings
C2 employs an algorithm that tries to detect results that are "too good to be true" because they are relatively far from the bulk of times. It doesn't have to be the fastest time, but it usually happens only among the top three or four places. For example, here's the current list for 1 minute, 70-79 ML:
1 Terry Dargan 71 Sydney NSW AUS 309 IND_V I
Hans van Leeuwen 70 Zevenhuizen NLD 290 IND I
2 Ralph Earle 72 Honolulu HI USA 257 IND_V I
3 james delaney 76 nokomis fl USA 256 IND I
4 Thomas Sowell 79 Bixby Ok USA 244 IND I
If Mr Dargan's 309 hadn't been IND_V, his and Mr. van Leeuwen's would both be unranked. And I would be (quite undeservedly) #1.
EDIT. Just found a better example:
Indoor Rower | 1 minute | Men's | Heavyweight | Ages 70-79 | Current 2016 Season
Place Name Age City State Country Distance Source Type [?]
1 Keith Colman 74 Carmel CA USA 323 C2Log I
Roger Stainforth 70 Durham GBR 306 IND I
Fenwick Tunley 73 Lewes GBR 294 IND I
2 Lowell Caylor 74 Greer SC USA 290 C2Log I
3 Juhani Joutsenniemi 72 Kerava / Lake Worth FL FIN 282 IND I
4 Scott FISCHER 70 Roseville CA USA 280 IND I
5 Art Charles 70 Phippsbrug ME USA 276 IND I
6 Ralph Cruikshank 72 Palm Beach Gardens FL USA 255 C2Log I

Re: The new summer sprints rankings
I stand corrected. As usual, the system is more complex than I realized.
