Friction blisters mean you ARE slip sliding way too much on the erg seat. We often talk about seat cushions and things of that nature around the Holiday Challenge when meter amounts start to dramatically increase. I don't think we've ever talked about blisters - well, at least not these kind of blisters. I thought you were kidding about the blisters, but you're not - and this is not the first time that you've mentioned getting them....so...I'm going to make a couple of suggestions.
There is a seat pad called Sore No More that is made of sorbothane, and it specifically fits the rowing seat. Many use it as a cushion (although it is pretty thin). The other property it has is that it really does keep you from sliding around on the seat. http://shop.jlathletics.com/sore-no-mor ... d/dp/10177 Here is a link to the product which is available at JLRacing.
The second suggestion is to wear rowing shorts when you row. These spandex and lycra shorts are quick drying, and also keep you from sliding about on the seat. JLRacing also makes a lot of different rowing shorts. Many of our teammates have purchased these, and are happy with them. A couple of pairs will get you through a lot of challenges, and you can wash them up frequently without them losing their fit. Don't recommend putting them in the dryer though. They might seem a bit pricey - but they work so well that you will think it definitely worth it. I believe Concept2 has some rowing shorts also, and they are made by JLRacing.
[/quote]
thank you K2. I do have rowing shorts, they may even be the one's you suggest and I will see who made them next week when I have a set of eyes with me. I definitely plan to try various seat pads and things when I can. I don't feel like I am sliding around but obviously I must be if only a little tiny bit. This is the frustrating part. I just can't figure out how I am getting this and mostly only on the one side. I will review the link you provided now. Sooner or later I will indeed get to the bottom of this situation. Again, thank you.

Well, as long as we're getting to the bottom of things ...
The only time I got blisters on my bottom was on longer rows where I wasn't mindful of how far my shirt was tucked in. The tucked in material in the back caused the blisters.
Ashes, ashes, we all fall down -- on our blistered bottoms.

Another episode.....into the Gardens...
The foxtail lillies started it. I am planting these bulbs later this fall - and found out that the first year they don't have flowers. I took this picture at the Denver Botanic Gardens a few Junes ago. They do look like foxtails. So I wanted to see them again, and get a good idea of what to put around them, etc.
Each year, there's at least one exhibit that is intermixed with the Gardens. Last year, Chihuly glass. This year, Deborah Butterfield's horse sculptures. She uses odd bits of wood, found steel and a few other things to create her sculptures - and imagine my surprise to find that one was called Luna.
Luna - made of found steel and a few other bits
But to get to Luna, I had to go through the moongate. Really. I've heard of star gates, but I had never heard of a moongate. Of course I went through it - I happen to like the full moon and happiness.
There were quite a few Butterfield sculptures throughout the Gardens...thought you might find the info of some interest - especially if an exhibit comes your way.

Yes, very cool. I was just reading that moon gates are very popular in Bermuda - an idea taken from Chinese gardens, and coincident with the importing of Easter lily bulbs from Japan for cultivation. We were in Bermuda for our honeymoon, and now I do remember seeing them, but I don't remember them having a name. Here's a nice picture of a Bermuda moongate:
Then I started reading about Deborah Butterfield. I saw on her wikipedia page that she was born on the 75th running of the Kentucky Derby, which she suspects had some influence on her subject matter. And I saw the following picture from someone's Columbia River Journey (
http://columbiariverimages.com/Regions/ ... orses.html):

Welcome back to Bruce T ! Great to see another returning teammate!
I captured the stats really early this AM, because our golf league had really early tee times. The mosquitoes are out in force already with all the wet weather we have had - it will probably be a tough season for West Nile. The temperature wasn't THAT high, but the humidity made for an increased heat index I am certain - or at least it felt like that as I walked the 18 (no meters for me today!). We are usually very spoiled by not having humidity greater than 10 to 15%. Not so right now!
Meanwhile, we've got full moons, half moons, number sequences, palindromes. It's in-cred-ible!
Season meters as of 44/365 = 17,145,479 m
Total meters on the day = 323,476 m

The only time I got blisters on my bottom was on longer rows where I wasn't mindful of how far my shirt was tucked in. The tucked in material in the back caused the blisters.
Ashes, ashes, we all fall down -- on our blistered bottoms.
haha very good. I don't wear a shirt but yes I can see that happening.
Any wrinkle will cause a problem too. Like runners getting blisters on their feet due to a wrinkle in their sock. Hmm, do I have a wrinkly butt? Oh no!
I took 3 days off from rowing just to let the muscles recover since I’ve been doing a lot of meters this season. Time to get back to it tomorrow.
For those who don’t stretch enough. Including me. I noticed my right knee was giving me some pain the last couple of days. I felt around some and found a tight muscle. I decided to do the stretch where I pull my foot to my butt while standing. Well, was I tight. Normally I don’t have a problem kicking my butt with the help of my hand. Not then I couldn’t I worked at it and notice the pain in the knee went away. So reminder to stretch team mates. As a buddy once told me. Stretching is like dental floss. We know we should but we don’t always do. Grin.
Have fun

Welcome to new teammate, and fellow Coloradan Doug G! We wish you many great rowing sessions and much good camaraderie with the Luna-Tics!
And just like THAT....the month is half over!
2015 Solstice Challenge is Sunday. Sounds like a great way to usher in summrrrr to me! Tough day for some of us to fit a half marathon into the schedule....so do what you can. I have written to Concept2 to ask if there is a 2015 logo for this challenge as I keep getting the 2014 logo when I click on Challenge details.
Season meters as of 45/365 = 17,732,559 m
Total meters on the day = 344,680 m

There's always late Saturday night ... when you finish your row after midnight, it posts as Sunday ...
