Hello all...
I am currently using ERGdata when I row...its a cool app.
Is there an app that will record every stroke of the distance rowed, like an ekg? Showing distance, graphically every stroke, heart rate? Ideally lining into the rowing computet like ergdata does?
This would be very cool...
Does this exist?

???? RP doesn't provide anywhere near as much data as the old ErgMonitor. What it lacked was HR and now, of course, it works only with very out-dated software.Citroen wrote:RowPro does that stuff.

If the PM3/PM4/PM5 has your HR then those data will appear in the RowPro file. That's how Dan Burpee's spreadsheet works.

I was referring to EM about not having HR data. RP has it, but I could only get it in the form of that crappy graph with the time or distance axis in log form instead of linear. It was the same for pace, watts and meters per stroke. If the complete data was available in tabular form, I never learned how to retrieve it. I never used EM myself (it never had a Mac version), so I am not all that familiar with it, but it appears to save all the data for each stroke. If that is also available from RP, I would be very surprised. I tried to find out how to get it but met up with a blank wall. RowPro can write a file with one record per stroke. Dan Burpee's spreadsheet is used to make those data prettier and more useful.

This looks good... Being I dont own an erg, and I use the rower at the gym is that a problrm? Dies the rowpro software come with a cable to connect to a notebook, or does this require a datacard?

You will need to take a laptop and a USB-A to USB-B printer cable into the gym with you.
The data on the logcard is very limited maximum of one record per split (or interval rep) and thirty records per session. You get time, date, duration, distance, average pace, average stroke rate, average HR (if available) and average calories on each split.

I've been using this for a while now. I've also written an XL macro to convert the CSV output file to standard TCX format which can be uploaded to any analysis program or website such as Golden Cheetah or Trainingpeaks/Strava
I'ts only available for Android, but does not need your laptop at the time, so great for the gym!

BTW, if it looks like ERGdata, that's because it was written by the same guy, Dan Eiref. He added a lot more functionality to it.

I have dabbbled with it... but it's not giving me want I want.
I want to be able to a rowing session and record it, stroke by stroke for analysis... I want to save it, and replay it.
I don't think this app is that comprehensive... there must be something out there that is, likely something a college uses?

Boatcoach saves data every second and saves every conceivable metric the erg produces (plus a few more). What you do with it of course is another matter, but the plugin that is needed for the csv export is a paid option, so maybe that's why you aren't aware of it. I use SportTracks (https://www.zonefivesoftware.com/sporttracks/store/) for post workout analysis for my running, cycling, rowing, skiing, whatever. But that's the last step in the chain. In order to get there you need to:
1. Collect the data
2. Transfer the data
3. Analyse the data.
1. You can collect the data in two ways - LogCard (PM4 and earlier), USB thumbdrive (PM5), ErgData or RowPro. I use RowPro - it gives me stroke by stroke details and all the wattage data points.
2. Transferring data from RowPro to (in my case) SportTracks is done by a old, but still working PlugIn to SportTracks that transfers data from RowPro to ST by directly connecting to RowPro's database (https://www.zonefivesoftware.com/sportt ... a-importer). No work-arounds like transferring via .csv file required (although RowPro has such option).
3. Analysis of the data- this is where SportTracks thrives. I am sure Golden Cheetah is good too but I have not tried it. All of my analysis is based on cycling concepts when it relates to workout based on power - so it is easier to review the screens below with understanding of the concepts like FTP, Variability Index (VI), Intensity Factor (IF), TSS and the like. These are simple, yet powerful to use ratios that can be implemented in working out on a rower.
A very useful, additional plugin to power based workout analysis is Training Analysis (https://www.zonefivesoftware.com/sportt ... g-analysis)
I will attach examples of screen printouts from SportTracks where you can see what sort of stats it can output as well from TA plugin in the next post limit on URLs in one message is 3.

Basic view in main page may look like this (screenshorts are big - you need to click through to the PhotoBucket website and click the magnifying glass tool there to see all the details):
Main graph is my power and SPM (cadence or RPM in cycling parlance) for my FM row last year. At the top you see some of the workouts with basis parameters that you can display in that table (these are customizable).
The same workout viewed in Training Analysis plugin give me more details related to zones (my defined FTP here is 240Watts) and power curve based on various times (so called Critical Power). This is not that useful for that particular workout but it is of good use for shorter distance racing to see what maximum power we can sustain for a given period of time.
The summary page from Training Analysis plugin gives us all the ratio related to power-based analysis.
To sum up - I think there are other various software that do the same thing, I have not tried them (intend to try Golden Cheetah), but ST seemed to work for me for years now and be able to capture all type of activities I do. It is not cheap (desktop version is USD 63), you may need to buy additional Plugins to utilize more of the functions available (but some are free) but I find it very robust and reliable. I am not using their montlhy-subscription web-based service though. It looks sleek and seem to have good functionality but I can't justify the price point.
