It was like being slapped in the face by a wet fish when it struck me, less than an hour after I sent, it that I had screwed up - big time. I was working on cleaning out the garage and mulling over thoughts of pH and pOH - then I remembered what I had said. Your message made it obvious that it was too late to edit it - it had hit the fan already, but I went ahead with th edit anyway. Now, if I could only do something about all these clichés that keep cluttering up my messages, I would be happy - or at least less embarrassed.

Bob S.

Hey, anyone who expresses discomfort at referring to a single-cell unit as a battery is okay in my book! I'll even confess to dusting off my old chemistry book to be sure that my memory wasn't playing tricks on me. At least now I'll remember how to figure out which side of pH 7 is acid and which is alkaline - maybe
