All In A Lotta Days of Erging: Team Progress Thru 4.6.15

Post by Kona2 » April 7th, 2015, 11:01 am

Hooboy! Baseball !

Wowzer, mates! You racked up some IMPRESSIVE meters while I was away! Over THREE million, plus created a couple more meter multi-millions to celebrate - fine job celebrating the accomplishments of your teammates, too! Looks like some of the other teams are giving us a bit of a run for our meters in the World Erg Challenge...but there is still time.

Image Another episode....

Colorado is still building its way out of the great floods of September 2013. One of the "victims" was the Coal Creek Golf Course in Louisville. This was a favorite course because it is so walkable, yet still challenging. Now it looks like there will be another choice on how to get around the course, because they are going to give the golf bike a try when they open in July 2015. It will be the newest 25 year old course in the US.

Image

Oh, the dilemma of decision making! At least one of the golf courses in Vail uses golf bikes, and they have noted that a person can play a 9 hole round in about one hour when using a bike to zip around the course. One assumes that the golfers with that time ran into no hazards....and no groups in front of them....

Woohoo! It's BASEBALL season! Coors Field is celebrating its 20th anniversary of existence this year. One of the items that wasn't in play at the start of that 20 year span is the Coors Field Humidor Room. Ten years or so ago, the Rockies and MLB made the decision to keep the game balls in a climate controlled humidor room at Coors Field. Seems that our thin, dry air here in the Mile High City was drying out the baseballs so much that they exploded off the bats...and we had too many home run balls happening (there can be too many??!). Baseballs kept in the humidor won't carry as far in the park, but the elevation still propels the balls further. A few years ago, USA Today did a nice write up of the whole humidor process, specifications for the climate, and sort of demystified the humidor setting. Some of you might be interested. http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/sports/b ... oors_N.htm
