I've been rowing about 3 years and never had this problem.
Within the first 10 minutes, my right hand begins to tingle ('pins & needles' in fingers and palm). As soon as I stop, it stops and no problem rest of day. But when rowing, no amount of changing positions or grip with right hand, or waving arm around, will improve blood flow. My calluses are fine (no blisters) and I'm not doing anything unusual. The LEFT hand is fine (I am RIGHT handed). Started about 1 month ago.
Any ideas?
I use 2 rowers at a school gym. It seems to me both chains could use a bit of lubricant so they would ride a bit smoother. But I'm careful otherwise not to the jerk or bounce the chain around. Again, this never happened before.
Thanks.

Re: Fingers - tingle when rowing
If you have tingling or dead feelings in the arms, and/or any other loss of sensation at any time especially if without apparent cause, see a doctor. He may want to know some family history.
Otherwise when rowing relax completely, especially shoulders, hands and arms. For grip, the usual rule is none at all, fingers hooked on and slack thumbs.

I had that in both hands, turned out to be Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, simple surgery, back rowing in 2 weeks. Advice above is good advice - See a Doctor

Check that your clothing is not too tight over your shoulders. If you wear gloves watch the tightness of the wrist straps.
I have a couple of rowing suits that are too small and I suspect they reduce the blood flow if they cut into the shoulders.
Tingling in my feet was caused by my laces being too tight, in fact you can row in running shoes without even doing up the laces and leaving them loose, they just stop your feet from getting hammered by the strap.
Failing this your more likely to be gripping the handle too tightly.
