Given the above reasons proberly not. An other factor is your natural rate. What is the rate if you do a hard 2 k?
There two ways you can look at ratings. As a absolute number, the 20 here.
Or relative, if you rate 40 on a two, 20 is 50%, is it 30, it becomes 66 2/3

An other point is speed, a slower rower rates lower, the drive takes longer and less fitness also means, lower ratings, but this will show in the point above.

In short, rate 20 is proberly not needed for you :D

I alternate between rowing and riding my bike on a trainer for fitness. My current fitness level for rowing is around 7:20 2k in the low 30s for rate.

My typical 5K rate is 27-29 no matter what the time. Most days it's around 20:00 flat.
59m, 5'6" 160lbs, rowing and skiing (pseudo) on the Big Island of Hawaii.

Ralph, I actually meant to say 8250 over 60, which is about 700 more than the OP. I don't know the count of over 8250, but I'm sure it is well over "1". Your good bud is at the head of the list. Even little ole no-upper-body-strength me has a few years under that belt. Maybe you can do the math for me, as you are the resident statistician. :) JDG
