Hi everyone. I just caught up on the forum....ouch, my heart goes out to David. Losing a pet is one trauma; how you lose him or her is quite another. Then add everything else in. I know well how life just seems to pile it on at times; the end just doesn't ever seem in sight. And then there are the after shocks.

I'm sorry for not posting any results for the past four weeks (170K /day is just not in me). About a month ago I had what should have been a minor accident and one for the funnies (I slipped on a piece of moss in the driveway and fell flat on my face) but it really wrecked my knees and chest (despite landing on the painting I was carrying to art class and which should have broken the fall--as another factor to add to the yuk yuks). It was my first contact with the reality of being 57 and it really took the stuffing out of me more than it should have; then again, see above, in the bit about life piling it on. C'est la vie. I've survived, yet again. When people say "that which doesn't kill you makes you stronger" I can't help wondering "yeah, but stronger for what?" It's rather like a cue for the shark music from Jaws.

Fortunately, rowing is a low-impact sport, so after the initial bruising went down, I've been able to keep it up without too much fuss. The weight loss continues and I'm an inch away from comfortably fitting some of the clothes from my slimmer days. Yahoo. At long last.

I've just signed up for the WEC: please put me in for 500K.
