Ergdata
Ergdata
I have a question about the ergdata app for the android. While I’m rowing I would like to watch some series or a movie on my mobile phone. I tried this today but somehow the exercise wasn’t recorded and stored. So is it not possible to run ergdata in the background while you watch a movie or what did I do wrong? I’m using the ergdata app to sync with my online logbook, because I’m using it in the gym.
I select a distance in the PM3 and the ergdata copies the distance as it should. Then I press the home button (phone) and select my media player and watch a movie. After the workout I hit the menu button two times to store the workout on my logbook, but to my surprise the workout wasn’t stored on the ergdata app, but on the PM3 I can see the workout…
Anyone an idea? I have a Note 3.

Re: Ergdata
I have also experied some sync issues with Ergdata. It looks like it will only sync 3 workouts a day. the 4. and 5. don't sync.
And I don't think is possible to watch a movie while running Ergdata as it doesn't run in the background.
You can try to connect ergdata later in the exercise. I have done it a few times, after 600m or so, because my phone was on low battery.
Good luck

Re: Ergdata
I have a question about the ErgData logbook sync.
I have ErgData on both my iPhone and iPad, and it appears that the logbook sync is one-way, i.e., whichever device I have connected, the iPad or the iPhone, will "sync" (i.e., upload) a workout to the online logbook, but the app does not either
(a) download the online logbook data from other, prior workouts INTO ErgData, so you can look at them there; or
(b) sync the workouts in ErgData across devices, so that what's on my iPad shows up on my iPhone.
If that's the way it works, it seems that "sync" is a bit of a misnomer.
Is that everyone else's experience, or is there some setting I've missed?

Re: Ergdata
Bluetooth is only capable of connecting one device at a time. Also, the "sync" function of ErgData merely loads the workout(s) into your online log. The online log does not communicate in the reverse direction.

Re: Ergdata
Tallahassee makes a good suggestion - the ErgData app button should be marked "upload", not "sync", as this is indeed a strictly one way process, from app to online logbook database.
To Leo's original question, while I don't use Android, I do use my iPhone 6 to play music wirelessly through a Bluetooth speaker, while also using Ergdata wirelessly using Bluetooth LE and my PM5 (running firmware v16). So, it is possible in some circumstances with some combinations of hardware to have multiple wireless connections active.

Re: Ergdata
New to the forum and tried to start a post about ErgData on an Android tablet, sorry if my other post appears at some point.
Just wondered if anyone has ErgData running on a cheap Android Tablet.
The cable and adapter to get it working on my iPhone could cost almost twice as much as some cheap Android tablets that are around now.
Does ErgData only run on Android up to 4.2 or does anyone have it running correctly on Android 4.4?
Does the ErgData Google Play only list up to 4.2 because later editions haven't been checked or are later editions of Android all incompatible?

Re: Ergdata
Well!!
You can connect the Android phone at the end of the workout. I do it all the time to save the phonebattery, as Ergdata eats battery. About 1% pr minute.
So you can watch movie while working out, and when you finish you connect the cable before the PM times out. Ergdata will ask you "Are you finish?" and press "yes"
I allways connect the cable to the phone last. The cable is allways connected to the PM. I just put the cable between the phone and the cradle. Annoying when the cable scratc the pull-chain.
I use to workout at daytime, so I'm happy I found it out, because I'm so tired of watching all the shit on TV
