A member of an indoor rowing team or club? If so, this is the place for you.

Can this one team row to the moon and back?

All the leader canoes are impressive ~congrats!~ ... but the one that also took time-out to track and post our stats ... now, that's something else! Hooyah, indeed.

Thanks Dan. I figured it out today.

My old coach came to visit at practice today and I asked about training for my 2k. He said I should increase my drag factor to 125 (been currently doing 115) and he also suggested to do longer sessions are also lower stroke rate to focus on power.

Thoughts?

Also I have today that reading everyone's posts and seeing the meters rowed is so inspiring. It's giving me the excitement to hit the gym more and try harder! Thanks everyone for the positive vibes!

I've heard this kind of advice before. But I don't have the background to really offer any thoughts.
I also have been thinking about a 2K - and CRASHB 2016 - ever since Thor/Michael brought up the idea. But I'm putting off any serious thoughts about it until after I survive this Virtual Team Challenge - and by the way, I also want to add my congrats to our team captain keeping up with mega-stats in addition to her own mega-rowing.
There is a lot of good information available through the forums, both the US version and the UK version.
If you haven't seen the UK forum yet, you'll find it here: http://indoorsportservices.co.uk/forum/.
I don't know what you might have seen so far in your research, but there are 3 useful resources that came to my mind when I was ready: the Wolverine Plan, the Pete Plan, and the Training Guide on the UK site.
Using these names for searches will give you plenty of reading material, but I can give you some links.

Here is a description of the Wolverine Plan created by Mike Caviston: http://www.concept2.com/files/pdf/us/tr ... nePlan.pdf.

Here is a description of the Pete Plan, created by Pete Marston, initially just for himself as a simplified version of the Wolverine Plan, but which he decided to write down, at the request of others - and I know many people have followed some version of this plan. https://thepeteplan.wordpress.com/the-pete-plan/
And this document also includes a section for Beginner Training. Here is a direct link: https://thepeteplan.wordpress.com/beginner-training/.

This is certainly not an exhaustive list of all the good information available, but it is the list at the top of my mind when I'm ready to give it a go. And if you have any thoughts about using some software, like RowPro, I'm sure you can find some interactive 2k training with that. And then there are coaches that can provide accessible information without travel. Xeno Muller comes to mind there. I know he has DVDs. And I also think I may have seen that he developed something where he can work with people over the net - I think I saw that, but I couldn't swear to it, and I don't know how much he would charge. And then, of course, you could always go to see him. I know Bob S. went to see him and I remember seeing a positive review of that. I'm sure you have seen posts from Bob S. in different forums - he is a frequent contributor, who set a number of records, and who I think is getting ready to set a few more since his birthday (new age group).

For myself, I was just planning on doing whatever I came up with after reviewing the reading material again. I wasn't planning on going the RowPro or coach route. And in particular regarding Xeno - he has some interesting thoughts about breathing - I gave it a try for a while - I thought I gave it a fair shake - but then I couldn't wait to go back to breathing the old fashioned way.

I hope we have a large waterway. I think we are going to have quite the fleet :!: Congratulations to all. K2 how did you find the time to get your canoe and do your usual brilliant job on the stats :?: :o
Today I passed the 30MM lifetime mark. Three quarters around the earth.

Okay, I'm back after a long, long, hiatus...don't even try to find me in previous posts--it was *that* long ago!

I'll be rowing regularly through January (rowing is what I do when my trail running isn't available due to short daylight hours in the winter); would it help or *hinder* the team if I were to join on the January challenge at this time? I know we're already a week in to the challenge and I wouldn't want to bring down any average or whatever... I don't row a ton 'o meters (18,000 to 20,000 a week) so I'm just wondering...

Anyway, all, I'm happy to be back and joining in on the looney fun as I row away in my garage solo-style.

Get in the boat! EVERY meter counts!! We're not watching to see what kind of average meters we get for this Challenge....just the year end....for this Challenge, we want more than the boat behind us....

While some of us were still singing "We three kings..", Ed was busting a move towards the FIVE million meter milestone for the YEAR. Wowzer, and with a FULL marathon, too! Whoop, whoop and hooyah! Congratulations, Ed, on achieving a mighty milestone as you cross the FIVE million meter mark for the Concept2 2015 season. Impressive stuff. We wish you many, MANY more!!

6 LUNA-TICS Virtual Club 143 77,999,333 And what to my wondering eyes did appear this AM.....a 6th place ranking and many tiny reindeer. Whoop, whoop and a double triple triple number set...I'm sure it is significant...while our numbers have temporarily boosted, I hold out hope that the numbers will stay on the upside (but history says....!) Cool stuff when the planets and numbers align.

Congratulations, Ron! Three- quarters of the way around the circumference of the Earth is BIG news. At one time, you and I were both hitting 10 million lifetime meters about the same time. I'm still working on 12 MM lifetime (although I am REALLY close), and you have done a few laps around my numbers. You and David A (and possibly one other) have some biggie meter claims. As to my paltry meters, I'm working on them one row set at a time (just like everyone). The January Virtual Challenge does take a lot of time for posting - especially once the fleet (here known as the ARMOONDA) starts filling in. I am hopeful that we will have many canoes in the virtual waters.

Image Day Seven in the Bubble Universe....woohoo! One week done!

The Challenge team has done it again! Delivered THREE million Challenge meters....and you know that now I would like to see 4. We're getting a few more teammates back into the erg habit after a bit of a break from the Holiday Challenge, but still work to do. We've got another Lunie canoe in the water as Howard claims his canoe, and many of our teammates who live in the hybrid universe of Lunie and Overcoming Disabilities Challenge team have earned their canoes. We always say that once a Lunie, always a Lunie - and recognize that some of our teammates go on to row with other teams here and there. We like to send canoes of goodwill throughout the virtual waters. Keeps it uncomplicated and fun.

Must say that for those of us who haven't been rowing like those possessed that it is a big energy drain to suddenly ramp up the meters. Sleep should come quite easily....and that's when one of the two Goldens chooses to have a tough night in barf alley. There are few things worse than waking up to that sound...and knowing that YOU have to deal with it. Soonest. Aaaaaack. Poor pup. Ah well, I might get some meters done today...but I am sleep deprived.

I've been "gone" since October 2009 - before you even joined! Just came back a couple of weeks ago. So ... WELCOME BACK!!

The Luna-Tics are definitely a welcoming bunch - and every metre counts. Join the challenge! We are very glad to have you with us.

By the shores......and into the virtual waters.....the ARMOONDA is setting sail ! We do hope that you will be part of this IN-CRED-IBLE experience!

And, another canoe is making headway.....just wait till he gets the canoe paddle....he'll be creating a canoe wake....maybe pulling a waterskier....(wait...wrong season for that)...
