Thanks for all the valuable input. Lot to think about. One of the general remarks is that FTP has little correlation between cycling and rowing. But how about VO2max. If one would do a 8 min timetrial on the bikes versus a 8min rowing test? Or maybe 6 min as this is also more common used in rowing. I myself have a VO2 anaerobe threshold of 52,8 ml/min.kg and VO2max of 62,1. How would this compare to 2k rowing times?

You're getting really obscure. Unless a top notch exercise physiology lab has done specific work in that area, even they could not answer that question. What's the obsession with the numbers. Get fit, train, and let the chips fall where they will on whatever type of apparatus you choose.
