Rowpro custom row time/distance conundrum?
Did two cycles (6 wks) of Pete Plan in November and December. It's a cycle that ramps up pace improvement quickly but the LSD volume combined with a fair volume of speed and endurance intervals chewed me up by wk 5. I'm going back to 24 wk beginner plan 1st of yr. with the thought that 3 sessions per wk might allow for 2-3 days lifting for both strength and muscle balance at the Y. I'd like to use RowPro but Row Studio doesn't allow custom distance intervals with timed rests. What's the workaround? Convert distance interval to time or the rest period time to distance? Suggestions or guidelines for establishing reasonable equivalents? Jack

I'm also starting over on the PP Beginner's Plan.
RowPro is great but it is a bit clunky at times. You can make distance intervals with a timed rest by setting the rest to "stop" in Custom Row studio. But in this case RowPro will not record metres rowed during the rest period. Alternatively, if you intend to paddle during the rest interval you can calculate your likely pace and the distance you're likely to cover. In this case, RowPro will record the distance covered. All metres count!
For example, I've just set up the 6 x 500 metres session with 2 mins rest. I'm reckoning on resting by paddling at 2:30/500 for 400 metres; that should come out at 2 minutes although my maths are so useless that I am close to innumerate.
At least, that is what I've set up. Off to try it out in practice soon ... if it doesn't work out I'll let you know!

Re: Rowpro custom row time/distance conundrum?
Thanks Rowan. I will use the stop in Row Studio as rest meters don't matter to me except during the C2 seasonal challenges. 30" to 40" per hundred sounds like a good guesstimate to sub for rest time. For r5', I might shave off 3-400m in order to get 1:30 or so handle down with the water bottle. Jack
