Hey Row Bros/Siss
I started rowing again for the holiday challenge. It has been a long time since I rowed at all so I am working my way through different races. The virtual drink must have had some magic in it. I did an easy 2K to warmup for the weights. Then did a long intense session of weights. Took a little break and set the PM for 2K. I knocked off about 9 seconds off the last score. Although the current numbers are not that impressive but I beat my previous PB, personal best and as we all know, that’s what it’s all about. This ol’ Thor is a storming. Haha

Whoop, whoop, and hooyah! What a great way to start the calendar New Year! As most of us are aware, Ron had an incident with a saw that is requiring a lot of resolve and determination to work through - and he is really showing us that he is made of some good stuff as he gets back to the rowing world and completes his second million meters of the 2015 Concept2 season! Congratulations, Ron - well done! We wish you many, MANY more millions!

Actually, you CAN get your million meter average THIS 2015 Concept2 season without too much stress. We have 120 days left in this season. You need 641,000 m as of right now. Assuming that you row just 80 percent of the available days left, say 95 days of the 120....and you row 6,750 m each time....you would be there. Just sayin'.....it's possible. :D And it would be SO helpful in our quest for million meter averages...

Of course, it's my role to "talk" teammates into goals that they never knew they had.....including myself.

Congratulations!! It's been a while since I put in a solid 2K effort. I usually prefer to hide smaller efforts in longer rows, emphasis on the word 'hide'. But maybe this year... Keep posting, and you'll probably encourage me.
We're also coming up to CRASH-B time again (http://www.crash-b.org/). It would be fun to do that once. bg did it last year, and we had great fun cheering her on. But for this month, I plan to stick to the longer rows (at least, 'longer' for me).

Thanks danwho. I read the link you posted. I would like to go to Boston perhaps in 2016. I didn't know that adaptive rowers only do 1K. I suppose given that I am only blind I may be able to give the 2K a shot. Or both. I wonder why the blind only have to do 1K? Easy to understand why other disabled people would be better with the 1K. some years back I went to a regatta in Toronto though sadly as a spectator as I was injured. the guy I went with had no use of his legs. A very remarkable man indeed. the great thing about life, there's remarkable people everywhere. One doesn't have to look all that hard to find them. All the Luna-tics for example.

It has been my happy experience that all the adaptive rowers are truly remarkable individuals - and they can outrow and out ski-erg almost everyone. The support is amazing, and team efforts are incredible. Many of us will have to really push ourselves to keep up. We will certainly try!

That's fantastic, bg. I will be glued to the streaming video.
And Thor MW, you have planted the 2016 seed in my head.

BTW, I know we have at least one other CRASH-B alumnus in our midst - Karyn.

thor here, that would be so cool to meet some Luna-Tics in 2016. Party anyone? Um, after the event of course. Grin. I have to shake a monkey to be competitive though. Yep, gotta quit them smokes. As I like to say, not a problem, just a factor. I would like it if my GF quit too but I suppose I can’t wait for anyone else and shall do what I must do. How many times have I been the lone wolf in my life. Oh boy! Haha

I looked around a little, and I didn't notice if there was someone for you to talk to about this. But I can tell you about a pretty famous Para-rower from Germany, Anke Molkenthin, who competed in last year's CRASH-B's, in both "Open Women Legs-Trunk-Arms" (placing 1st), and "Lightweight Veteran Women (Age 50-54)" (placing 2nd). She holds quite a number of other records too. A while ago, I remember watching her progress in the Moveo project (watching updates on Facebook), where she and two team-mates (male) were out to set records for a 1-million meter row. I know she set another record there.
