LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 12.26.14
Half moon fever ! Almost fifty percent of today's participants produced meters in the form of half marathons or half moons! We have seen moon fever sweep through our Luniverse every so often, and it is always an impressive display. In fact, I was so mesmerized by all the 21,097's that I had to go back and look for the other milestones... Well done!

Congratulations to you all; Xander is super-cute ... a real sweetie!nl07695 wrote:Finally time to introduce my son Xander with a nice picture of his first Christmas celebration. Mama and Xander are doing great. He's a nice calm little boy of just 4 weeks old. So be prepared for a new Lunie that will hit the competition in three to four years.
He looks like he's grinning on cue, which is a bit unlikely at 4-weeks, isn't it?
Enjoy that calm, while it lasts ...

Get ready......the bubble universe awaits!!
Yep. January arrives with full fanfare in just three days, and with it comes the Virtual Teams Challenge. You must belong to a team to participate in this Challenge, and we welcome new teammates as always. Each person who wants to participate as a member of the Luna-Tics team must indicate this by "joining" on the teams page. When you are next in your online logbook, scroll across the top to the Teams section, and then scroll down. You will see a link that allows you to join in the Virtual Teams Challenge....and you need to do this no later than 15 January.
Some may want to know if there are certain meter goals that are expected, etc., when you participate in a Challenge like this....how do I best help the team? The simple answer would be row or ski-erg as much as you can. You know best what you can manage in your world. Here are a couple of suggestions from what I've seen many teammates go for in the past:
- some add 15 minutes of rowing or ski-erg time to what they might usually do
- a popular one is to try to stay in the top ten percent of all meter producers as the Challenge progresses (those who just completed the 200K Challenge would be able to do this easily)
- some try for the top ten spots among all men or women rowers or ski-ergers (last year we had one fellow, three women on these lists). A quick look says that it took more than one million meters to make this list for the guys, and greater than 700K for the women. It's a big commitment to go after this particular brass ring.
- the biggest thing is to have fun with it, and Challenge yourself! Our team is different every year, and the Concept2 universe changes every year also - with different mega-teams coming forward.
And, in the interest of early disclosure, we do have Lunie team incentives. Not asking for any new caricatures from our resident artist since we have generic ones that we can utilize if needed.
100K...earn a canoe
200K...well, what's a canoe without a paddle?
500K...bathtub brigade I earned one in 2013....and last year didn't even get to the paddle level of 200K! This year will be different!

Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Greetings Guinan! Thanks for being our virtual bartender again this year! I seek a Manta Ray Martini .... K2Calamity wrote:
Guinan here - ready to take the virtual drink orders for the coming of 2015. These can be alcoholic, non-alcoholic, milk for Xander or milk for Clockwork Orange fans. Either post or PM me and the drinks will be served up on the 31st.
Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Thank you for your great service Guinan To finish off this year that "saw" some highs and lows I'll mark the greatest highlight of the year-our trip to Scotland. I can only afford this in the virtual world. I'll have a wee dram of 20 year single malt Glenfiddich and a Happy Hogmany to all

indeed Xander will be up for a 3 oz bottle of milk, straight no ice please.Calamity wrote: Guinan here - ready to take the virtual drink orders for the coming of 2015. For me it will be a nice Don Julio 1942 Tequila, like my son, straight no ice. Although 3 oz of tequila will be a very generous serving, I'll try to share some with Lilia.
Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Bellying up to the bar in Ten Forward ... trying to catch the Barkeep's eye ... pushing aside all those already waiting for their drinks ... trying to decide if I'm in the mood for a festive glass of Champagne ... or something more exotic. (Manta Ray Martini? A suspiciously blue drink, for sure; Aloha and Hula Hula!) Definitely not milk (cheers Xander) or Prune juice (with Worf). Meh. Why mess with a good tradition; Champagne, please, Guinan!Calamity wrote:Guinan here - ready to take the virtual drink orders for the coming of 2015. Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Oh boy I hope I have this right. Grin.
I am Michael Winegarden AKA Thor MW. I believe Kona2 called me this. I am new to the team and just got back in to rowing again. I want to say thank you for welcoming me to the team. I am trying to figure out how to use this forum so if I make any mistakes or you have advice that will make life easier for me, please send it on. I think I joined the team ride for Jan and I will rack up some meters but my primary focus is on training right now. I will row one day and lift weights the next. I am away from home on holiday but should be reunited with my gym Wednesday. First goal, work off some of mom’s cooking!!! Grin. I also expect I will hit my first million meters sometime this season. You are really a wonderful group and it is a pleasure reading posts throughout the holiday challenge. Happy star gazing.

Góðan dag Thor MW!
(I needed an Old Norse refresher for that greeting.)
You seem to have mastered the forum. I might suggest that you post a message here to Guinan with your drink order for a proper kick off to the New Year. But a word to the wise... only choose one... you don't want to get hammered before the Virtual Team Challenge... and Guinan's potations are known for their potency.

Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
I just recently discovered the Banana Momma. Oh yum!!! Given that I have two hands I think one for each hand will do quite nicely. The one mouth isn’t an issue a straw in each corner of my mouth and problem solved. Not a problem, just a factor. Grin.
