Wild pace # fluctuation cause?

Post by coggs » December 17th, 2014, 5:08 pm

After 5 years off the erg I've been using the C2 erg for the Holiday Challenge at my local fitness center this month (180K so far and going very well thank you!). It has a PM3 and I have noticed that about every 30 to 50 strokes to throws a wild pace number at me. For example - will doing a steady state 10K at a pace of around 2:05 (each stroke being within a few seconds of that time) every so often it will indicate a single stroke of something like 1:52 or 2:24, and then go right back to a more realistic number for about a minute or two before doing it again. Sometimes the error is up and sometimes down so it kind of averages out, but I'd hate to be doing an all out 2K trial and have it throw a few significantly erroneous numbers into the mix. Any thoughts? Battery is showing 80% charge and the chain is in very good shape.
If you don't try, you will never know how bad you suck.

If its a PM3 on a Model C running V108 firmware then its a bug in the firmware that I noticed so I went back to V105

It's also in V105 and V318.

Never had the problem with V105.

It's also dependent on the hardware version of older PM3, some I had problems with others I didn't on V108.

Basically if your unlucky and about four things line up you will have the problem. It would affect a very small number of users.

Maybe I have the same problem. How does your force curve look like? Does it look like shown here:

Already had a new sensor/cable to no avail.
