I've entered Ergomania in Seattle on 28th January, men's open hwt (19-29) race. Who else will be there?

I won't have the best prep for the race, so don't expect to be all that fast. I'm off out to Phoenix on Tuesday 17th for a week of work (testing parachutes in the desert), then up to Seattle just a couple of days before the event. So no training for some time before it. Maybe just go for breaking 6:20?

Pete

Pete: I am trying to clear things up that week so I can head up for the racing. I live just south in Portland. I will be the fat old guy coming last in the masters division. if you find your way to portland PM me and Ill buy you a beer or healthy substitute.

"old"? You gotta be kidding ... at 35? You're a "bay bay"!

I'll be the shortest person in the men's open hwt, wearing a mad team AIO, and showing the elite scullers how fast a short non-water rower can be.

I keep expecting to come to my senses but so far it hasn't happened. I sent my entry in today. Ergomania will be my first rowing competition.

I'll come and watch. For others planning on attending, come early and cheer for my hero, Luanne. Veterans compete first, so her event will likely be at 8a or 8:20a. Go to Regatta Central for the schedule and entrants' list.

Luanne Mills, 67, of Seattle holds the world's best 2,000 meter indoor time of 8:00.0 for lightweight women aged 65-69. The retired Seattle school teacher is a four-time member in her age category of the U.S. Indoor Rowing Team.

Also competing:
European Indoor Rowing Champion, Robert Meenk, 44, of Olympia will be there. At December’s European indoor championships in Copenhagen, Denmark, Meenk’s 2,000 meter time of 6:27.1 earned a gold medal in the men’s age 40 – 49 category.

It will be great fun, see you there,

grams

For results the best bets are PocockRowingCenter (website of the club hosting the race) and row2Kresults, though results are not likely to be posted until tomorrow (more likely in the next week!). Pete will probably post before then.

That's one area where you Brits do a great job - seems like most of the UK races have results up somewhere the day of the race.
