How much are concept 2 model B's worth?
Is a a concept 2 model B's worth $250? I can also get a Advantage Fitness Folding Rower at walmart for 300 new, which gets really good reviews.

Depends on the condition of the model B. If you're buying it from a club or rowing program it could cost another $100 or more to bring it into good condition. If it's come from an individual who bought it new and took care of it it might be a good deal. I don't know much about the Walmart rower, but there are a lot of Model Bs still in use though we stopped making them in the 1990s. Post some pics or PM me if you want it evaluated. C2JonW

Other than just trying it out to see how it feels, what do i check for to make sure it's in good condition?
Thanks
Thanks

I have sold several B's over the past several years and get around $300 for them.
If I was buying one, I would make sure
a) the monitor/electronics work
b) rail, seat wheels and seat are clean (not pitted) and in good shape (not worn/wobbly)
c) handle/chain retracts into flywheel cage on its own
d) flywheel is centered ands spins quietly
They are nice machines and I love that heavy aluminum flywheel!
Good luck.

It's a Museum piece.
The Electronics are now way too old and there is no damper setting to get the drag factor. If you intend to just play on it now and again thats fine, but if you want to use it on a regular basis its just too limiting.

I respectfully disagree, Carl. I have a B, and a C on slides and I still use them both. I've been here long enough to see where you're coming from, but even with a PM2 on the B, I can set intervals and record a heck of a workout. I use it when I want to practice hard starts and short intense intervals. I block it so that it doesn't move around and can crank as hard as I want. The C with a PM3 on slides is good for longer pieces (and comfort for my aging back) and it gets used the most, but I still like my B!

I had a PM3 retrofit on my B and it was properly configured for the B. It worked fine. There was no damper problem. It is easy enough to cover part of the wire cage and the PM3 gives the drag factor. Great machine. Solidly built and easy to keep in good condition. Main disadvantage is rusting, especially in a marine environment.
