The month is almost over, so here's how it's looking. I should hit 17 days of erging and something over 115K. I'm particulary impressed by the distance because my previous best month total was under 90K. That's a 25K improvement. Now to see if I can keep it up... I've been diligent about erging for longer than I expected. These challenges do help. In fact, my husband has been slacking off, so I'm catching up on his total meters. However, he just realized that tonight, so he may leave me in the dust again. LOL.

March Madness
Good work Schenley!
It's always nice beat your previous best - though I find I'm always trying to so now. I found the 25 day thing much harder to complete than the holiday challange - I did do it one year having to go to the gym and I thought it would be easier having a machine in my basement, but life kind of got in my way. And of course, once you've missed those 6 days, you can't row extra long one day to make up the difference!
I managed to row 22 days and it'll be over 170km once I do my row today, so I'm happy. I don't know what I'll do in April - though there is the marathon challance. I also want to try for a few PB's before the end of the season -some of my best times came from my first year of rowing, and I should be able to do better by now! But the weather is getting nice, and my garden keeps on calling me.....

Schenley--well done with improving on your distance. The neat thing I like about this forum is that we can all pursue our individual goals that are all very different and encourage each other in the process.
Kit--way to go! I think the whole point of the March Madness was to encourage people to row even if we don't get in all 25 days. As a "crammer", I did feel the pressure to keep up because I couldn't just row extra to make it up. 170 K wow!
I too wonder about April. I threatened to take the erg out onto the deck for the early morning cool!
Last year I did the HC and then stopped. This year the HC was followed by the Jan. Virtual Team Challenge and March Madness. I really want to do AT LEAST 30 minutes of erging daily through the summer.
I am going to do the marathon. I did a half marathon in December and survivied it. I have been doing some longer sessions lately to find out where my sore spots are. I don't know how long it will take and I am not worried about it, my goal is to finish!

I think I may just do a half marathon in April - my butt just hurts too much to fathom 3+ hours on the erg. But with the weather as nice as it's been this week (we're at 21c today! In Canada, no less!) I definitely plan to take the erg to the deck for the long row. I found, like you, that the virtual team challenge, March Challenge and even the Valentine's row helped a lot in keeping me on the machine. I'm also working my way through the UK training for a 2 k - since I'm not actually racing, I chose the 16 week program, and should hit "race day" just before C2's new year. I'm amazed at how quickly the metres have been piling up doing training sessions like 4x4min at 2k pace - by the time I warmed up and cooled down this morning, I'd done 11km!
Let mw know how the training goes for the marathon - maybe I'll try it with you!
