Hooboy! Let one reindeer out, and the gates are open! Congratulations to Kristine on a FIRST EVER ! Traditionally, we give the names of the classic 8 reindeer to our first 8 to reach 100 K (unless a specific request is made). This is the FIRST time that Kristine has been in the first eight, and she is delighted to be Dancer. Well done!
Awesome! We have a great reindeer team to help Santa.

Congratulations, you over-achieving reindeer rowers, Ed and Kristine!
I'm still stacking the dishwasher, after Thanksgiving ... but, I'll be at 100K, soon!

You are all very inspiring!! I've done my best out-of-the-gate rowing to date, and that's in part thanks to watching the rest of you!

Oh, Thrasher? Just because that's how I feel this year with this challenge! It's the first real challenge I've tackled in two years because of foot issues (broken bones, torn ligaments). My toes are still healing from being broken in early June (really), my torn ligament is better but still torn, and the only way I'm going to make it through this challenge is to thrash my way through it. It's not gonna be pretty, but it's gonna get done....

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 11.30.14

Post by Kona2 » December 1st, 2014, 11:54 am

Whooooooosh!!! That's the sound of another month flying by, and the sound of the erg (more rapid than eagles during this month :D ).....Now, Dasher! Now Dancer! Now Prancer !

Woohoo! One of our family traditions is the paper Advent Calendar with the little window panes that you open each day of December, culminating on the 24th or 25th. Who could forget opening up the window pane and seeing....why that looks like brussels sprouts (and the ensuing discussion of it's all about how you cook them - ha! it's all about keeping them off your plate)...last year. This year's calendar is one called In The Woods by the Berlin-based duo of Freigofas and Dolz. I have seen foxes getting ready to pounce on little mice in the snow like the one by the lake in the picture below.

Image

And, another reindeer has been claimed...the first out of GBR... as Steve G hits the 100K milestone! He claims Prancer, the third of the traditional 8 reindeer from Clement Moore's poem "Twas The Night Before Christmas."

Image
Prancer (Steve G)

I knew in a moment he must be St. Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name:
"Now, Dasher! now, Dancer! now Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! on, Cupid! on, Donner and Blitzen!

Meanwhile, Danno is putting forth a strong meter march towards being one of the classic 8....again. Will it be Vixen or Comet? I'm betting on Vixen, but you never know!

Sacre blue; Brussels sprouts are delicious, especially if they involve bacon!
They were everyone's favorite T'giving side dish ... and there were many sides to choose from.

I just realized that I need 100K before I start earning $$$ and a reindeer. How soon one forgets!
Good job, first reindeer out of the stable; you guys rock.

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 12.01.14

Post by Kona2 » December 2nd, 2014, 12:26 pm

Starting or ending day 6 (depending on which hemisphere you're erging in) of the 27 days of reindeer bliss finds the Holiday Challenge Donation Meter Dial at $269 and climbing - with 69 people worldwide who have met the initial challenge of 100K (and FOUR of those are Lunies). There's been a ten percent increase in the number of people logging meters in the last six days - which is simply amazing!
Our team is motivated, as another day brings another reindeer!

Season meters as of 215/365 = 47,457,798 m

Whoop, whoop and what a clatter of hooves! Another day, and another reindeer! The cluster of meters that everyone is building suggests that tomorrow we'll be asking who let the reindeer out, but today belongs to James G and Comet ! Well done! You've really powered through to get this reindeer !

Wowzer, I've been out in the world having a busy kind of day - and looks like many teammates have been busy claiming reindeer! Not surprised that Howard got Cupid - he does ride that RED RED RED motorcycle after all. Starbuck and bg have found each other for yet another Holiday Challenge - it's all good! Keep going, Lunies, keep going! Lots more reindeer out there, and wouldn't you know it....Ed is getting pretty close to earning those reindeer lights to light up the desert night.

Next reindeer up: Donner !

PS - meter summaries will be forthcoming...have to go row some first!

All In A Couple of Days of Erging! Team Progress Thru 12.3.

Post by Kona2 » December 4th, 2014, 5:34 pm

Nothing like the hoofbeats of a bunch of reindeer to make a statement! David A has claimed his reindeer, Donner, and thanks to Ed's reindeer's antler lights (earned at 200K) , it won't be quite so dark in Oasis land any more - of course, there IS a full moon, too. It's day 8 or 9 (depending on your hemisphere), we have EIGHT reindeer already. As always, thanks to our resident artist AJ for his work in creating the flashing antler lights, and upcoming surprises.
