I was wondering why the decision was made and has been made in the past to send the USIRT to the European champs rather than the BIRC.

It would seem to me that it is easier to gain a medal at the Euro champs than it is to gain a medal the BIRC.

Will we see the USIRT at BIRC in 2006.

Sir Pirate

we've actually talked about this a good bit - there are plus/minus of both...

Rotating the location of the EIRC and sending the USIRT there
1. new cool location so that no one gets bored of going to the same old same old (anyone tired of going to boston in february yet

2. Help several countries 'raise the profile' of indoor rowing as a sport

3. allow people who have a harder time traveling from each country to participate in the euro champs when they come to their home country.

On the minus side:
1.Typically smaller races
2. New logistics to learn each time (such as language for instance...)

For the moment we are most likely going to continue to rotate the location of the EIRC, and the USIRT will most likely continue to go to where ever the EIRC happens to be - however this is an ongoing discussion...

-bp

QUOTE(dadams @ Dec 19 2005, 01:35 PM)

QUOTE(Sir Pirate @ Dec 19 2005, 01:29 PM)

What I am trying to say is...............we want to see the USIRT in the UK again!!

Sir Pirate

Quit yer whinnin'!!

So how about a new venue for the world champs in 2007? I'm sure there would be a lot more entries from over here if the venue changed each year.

Pete
