Great job on all the Rugby Tests Taffs.

It looks like we're gonna be out of the medal running this month for the first time (unless Adam has one heck of a last try in him). Sucks. Onto the 10k eh? I know Carla's excited about this one.

I think you first-boat Taffs will medal in next month's CTC. The Mad Team HWT Hulks  won't be able to use their sprinting/power advantage quite so much in a long piece. I am not crazy enough to think I can compete much with Carla on a 10k, but I will try to keep her on her toes at least for the first couple attempts of the month. :)

I'd forgotten how hard this erging is. Not really knowing what state of fitness I am really in, I decided to have a go at keeping a pace of 1.39.0 for all pieces. Figured that when I did this 10 days ago avg of 1.40 was not too painful and prior to my accident I was rowing at around 1.38.

The last 500Metres of final set were a real struggle, I was very close to dropping the handle.

1,000 Metres - 3.16.9 : 138.5
750Metres - 2.28.6 : 1.39
500 Metres - 1.39.0 : 1.39
250 Metres - 49.6 : 1.39.2
750 Metres - 2.33.0 : 1.42

Total time 10.47.1 Pace 1.39.6

Anyway glad its over now, Physio has told me not to do more than 10 mins at a time and so theoreticaly 10K is out for a couple of weeks.

Do not let your Physio see you are doing 47 seconds to much

I was trying to get this under 10 mins, but reckoned that due to rests breaks I could go over and she couldn't shout at me.

Anyway I told her yesterday that 'with respect' I didn't need to see her anymore, I think she was quite dissapointed. I think she was looking forward to watching me be pushed to the back end of the Hydrotherapy pool when she turned up the thruster to full.
She also told me that it would be a further 3 months before I am fully back to my previous form. Now if that is not a Red rag to a bull then I don't know what is. This means fully fit for Evesham Mile :D
Lets show what these Taffs can really do.

Hey Carla,

What's your target time/pace for your first 10k attempt of April?

1st 10K complete new PB 42:29.2 (about 13 seconds off)

slowed it down toward the end to hit the 42:30 mark, so I reckon I have a few more PB's coming this month, hopefully break into the 41:xx

So again I'm at the head of boat 1 for a few minutes, ah it's great living in Australia :D

Good luck everyone on this months CTC, We'll do well to hold our positions given our depleted numbers, but hell it's all about taking part

and Happy Birthday Niall for last weekand Owen that WCS thing is fantastic

Nah, our ow in London was a disaster we dropped from 380th to 399th (out of 402  ) but it was kinda expected! We only have bout 8 male members :D I had a trial with the WCS people on the tuesday, pushed myself to the point that my legs couldnt hold me up and i was spewing all over the place  and got a call on the thursday to say they were coming down to see me. Thanks to everyone for your congrats etc. and advice on how to improve my fitness (especially Duggie advisinng Pete's plan early on, dont know if i'd have made the grade had i not found the forum) Big pity you aint down this way this weekend Phil, our annual sponsored 24hr erg starts at 2 today and ends just before the Boat Race, just getting ready at the mo, any advice from my fellow Taffs? By the way, anyone down mumbles way, drop in for a pint and an erg :D we are near mumbles pier!

Not sure, I'll work it out this afternoon. My best this season so far has been 41:16.1 but last year I did 40:37.5. First one I'll probably just try to match my SB and sort of ease into it. You pushed me pretty hard on the 6K so I imagine we'll each be in and out of Taff 1 a few times each this month.

Well, after 6 weeks of inactivity, 10k was tough. Still, at least I've done one, albeit slowl 43:32.4 (2:10.4). Of course, I plan on reducing that over the next month...

Owen,
Spot on mate with the WCS. Mucho congrats!!

Brendin,
Great work on the 10k. Can never go wrong with a PB mate.

Phil,
Good to have you back (even if you're not 100%).

All,
April is Taff month (at least with the CTC). Let's see if we can hit the gold this month eh?

Do you feel inspired to get back at it, now?

I have been quite slack in the last couple months too, and am feeling the effect of it on my times and HRs. But I think I am back in the saddle now. Still, it probably won't be until later in the month that I get a really decent 10k.
