I personally do not mind Ranger's rants....but I would prefer to see him racing more often. So, race and moan is fine by me

What do you guys think?

Let's give the guy a big thumbs up for racing....

Cheers
RichardT

Ranger has lost his bottle, he is to scared to race as he is scared of not reaching the targets he has set himself.

He needs to do a 2K behind closed doors so that he knows what he can do in a race.

I want to see him set a new WR, I am getting fed up of waiting.

So come on Ranger, GET ON WITH IT!!

Your hero
Sir Pirate
xxx

IMO Ranger will easily break the 55-59 LW record in Feb, have difficulty regaining the 50-54 LW record due to lack of race practice and continue his crusade against C2 for full selection disclosure.

GW

I didn't vote because there was no 4th option : Ranger not race and fade away into obscurity.

If Ranger races and becomes World record holder again....WE WOULD NEVER HEAR THE END OF IT. His ego is already big enough, so we don't won't to fuel it anymore. He already talks down to people who are not World record holders as that seems to be his only measure of other C2 ergers. I don't want to see anymore of that. Do you?

The only positive that I can see out of Ranger racing is the crowds that he would draw to the events. Love or hate him, people would turn up in droves to see such a controversial figure either succeed or fail. Strangely, I think C2 would love that also.

Rockin Roland
Rich is very supportive of other rowers, their efforts, and I have not ever seen him talk down to anyone.

To the contrary, if he acted like Mike Caviston or Dennis Hastings he would undoubtedly have been "selected" to every C2 team since inception.
I deliberately restricted the options to get the point across to Ranger.

Ranger - with 34 votes polled, over 75% chose an option that involved racing.

I hope you get back into it soon.

Cheers
RichardT

The question is how to get _better_, folks. In my case, there was only one answer: Learn to row, change my technique. So that is what I have been doing.

Sure, waiting to race is difficult. You think _I_ don't feel it? But so it goes. Things take time. I don't like to race until I'm ready.

All of this talk about me not racing (in the past) or wanting to race (in the future) is just hogwash, though. I raced and raced and raced--everything, all distances, repeatedly. In 2003, I won _all_ of the major championships--WIRC, BIRC, _and_ EIRC. I raced two Boston qualifiers. I even race _after_ Boston._No one_ does this much successful racing. I have raced 100K. Once, I rowed all day. I am _nuts_ about racing.

But when you reach a plateau in your rowing, you have a decision to make. You have to say to yourself: Do I just want to keep doing the same thing at the same level (like Sir P ) or try to do better. So what the h***. I decided I should try to do better. Thus, my recent training.

My first race will be January 21st in Indianapolis. I will try to row 6:24. I think I now have the stroking power to do it. In 2003, I didn't.

If I don't row 6:24 in Indianapolis, I will try and tdry again and row in Cincinnati, Toronto, Baltimore, and Chicago, too, in addition to Boston. In 2003, I also went up and rowed at Ridley College after WIRC. I might do that this year, too, now that I am ready to race.

ranger

Guess that's the reward that comes with the labor.

You have the same opportunity. Records are made to be broken. You just have to work harder!

ranger

World Records are equal opportunity employers.

They aren't at all like C2 and the USIRT!

ranger
