Interesting and helpful article! And, good rendition of Seuss by danwho, too. We'll see if the bulbs pop up in late spring. With snow forecast really soon, I may have pushed the fall planting a bit too late....aaaack!nl07695 wrote:Hi Jan,

LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
All In A Couple of Days of Erging! Team Progress Thru 11.7.
IN-CRED-I-BLE !!
When I looked at the team meter bank yesterday, I couldn't believe it....but it was true. There WERE meters by Ron M's name! And there were some additional ones today! I had suggested that Ron contact Concept2 about adaptive rowing since he was not able to grip the rowing machine handle. When I saw the meters, I wondered how he had worked through the problem. I pinged Ron to ask, and he replied that he's become a bionic man and modified himself instead of the rower. He says "A friend who does a lot of weightlifting helped me out. The 'Progryp' is designed to take the load off from your hands when doing heavy lifts. The hooks fit just right over the rower handle. " He says he is a little sore after more than a month away from rowing. Where there is a will....
Season meters as of 191/365 = 41,186,113 m
Total meters today = 163,722 m and for yesterday = 277,596 m

Zounds, Ron, that gives me the shivers, just looking at your hand. I hope that you brought home a couple of bottles of single malt whisky from Scotland, for special occasions. This, I believe, might qualify. Keep calm and carry on, Sir Hook.Kona2 wrote:IN-CRED-I-BLE !! ... All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 11.8.14
Great to see that we have more teammates getting closer to their personal milestones of ONE million meters! I suspect that we will see several people reach their millions during the Holiday Challenge. I did see something that looked like a new requirement for those wishing to earn their Holiday Challenge pins. It said that pins would only be sent to those who chose to donate to the charities that the Holiday Challenge supports. This year's selections all have to do with efforts to end hunger. I have sent a question out to Concept2 to ask if the requirement statement just means that we need to indicate which of the three charities our meters support (and when do we indicate what charities we are supporting), or if it means something different. It's always important to get the understanding right before the Challenge begins! I have probably opened up a whole nother can of worms by asking that question here.
Million Meter Milestone:
Barry S with (24,868 m) to go !
AJ with (63,407 m) to go!
Dan W with (75,843 m) to go!
Season meters as of 192/365 = 41,382,181 m
Total meters on the day = 196,068 m

Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
I've just been catching up on old posts that I've missed (thanks for the Addams Family shout-out K2!) Ron, I'm so sorry to hear what happened, but so glad to see you are back on the erg. That's some ingenuity! Hope your recovery continues to go well!
I've been struggling to row consistently because I'm back in school, and the workload hit me way harder than I anticipated. Also, my dog Xena developed a limp over the summer which was diagnosed as bone cancer in her right front leg in late September. We opted to have the leg amputated, but decided not to pursue chemo. She has been having her ups and downs since then. She initially adapted to having 3 legs very well, but a few weeks later seemed like she was in a lot of pain and wouldn't move at all. She seems to be doing better in the last week or so (in fact, she was chasing a bunny in the yard yesterday morning!)
Anyway, congrats to all the milestones and achievements I missed!

Thank you! I'm in a basic sciences PhD program on the genetics and development track. Also, here is a picture of Xena right after she got out of surgery:bg wrote:good to hear from you :} and so glad that xena is doing better.....btw...what are you studying???sarahaddams wrote:I've just been catching up on old posts that I've missed (thanks for the Addams Family shout-out K2!) Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Comics about math and numbers aren't all that frequent, yet there was one today that seemed appropriate for our team....especially since some have had a fondness for rowing parts of the number that is PI (which is different than the symbol that is Prince)...3.14159265359 (and beyond!) ... and, yes, we'll be having quite the PI day on March 14, 2015 !!
Meanwhile, we have several palindromes...including one where Howard has not only rowed a palindrome today (13331), but his yearly total is a palindrome (291192). Not that other yearly totals haven't been palindromes...Jessica of Tucson maintained a 94949 for quite a bit of time. Dan W kicked it up a notch towards his impending one million meter milestone by putting together an Edwardian kind of palindrome! It's all good stuff !

Cool. I hadn't noticed the palindrome that was my yearly total. Kinda fun rowing palindromes.
