Darlene Brennan

Post by phlukke » October 17th, 2014, 11:53 pm

By my calculations DB has rowed for between 25 and 30 hours during the last 2 days of this competition and has still finished 170,000m behind the winner.
Total and utter dedication. Many , many congratulations on another stunning total. Amazing consistency and participation.

Amazing consistency indeed! 89K per day for 31 consecutive days does tax the powers of imagination, calculaion, and finally empathy, does it not? As a midpack participant (301K in 19days, 2 rest days, 10 days camping without rower), I know my can, shoulders, neck, and bad left wrist were all sore and my pace degrading toward 2:50 splits. 2XHM per day does appear a bit ergpulsive and ergcessive to this puny mortal. Yours thoughts beyond the dog whistle? Jack

I think you meant 2XFM - in fact 89K is a tad over that.

I attempted to correct to FM, Bob, and apparently did not push "submit." Have never liked submitting no matter how ill-equipped for avoiding doing so! Good catch; you are the iggle of the aerie! Bit over yes but 4600 odd meters is a mere rounding error at this level of performance. If you were talking the TI rowing fitness center, 4.5K would matter. Slowjac

Good heavens, I'm so not paying attention to detail as the younguns have it! I forgot the 11K I tacked on after returning from vacay on 15 Oct. Those drops in the bucket add up certainly and I gave all of my mine for my team. Knotty Knitters FOREVER! (I misread that as Nappy Nodders when I signed on. Must get new prescription!) Jack

I love to row and I go slow and easy and am in no race with anyone. Slow and steady is how I approached it. I am retired and made sure my house and chores were in order before I began this challenge and I pushed myself at the last week as I wanted a little glory I suppose.... my house and chores could wait, so could sleep and rest given other than time wise, I was not pushing my body beyond my limits. really frustrating to work so hard and discover both Darlene and myself removed from the standings. Disappointed to have worked so hard, for what??? whatever.. I return to my friend, my rower and row on, blissful in the fact I KNOW I achieved a great feat.

This is really about Darlene but as u posted here Diane I'm really keen to know if you really rowed 1,000,000m for the last 6 days of the FTC or
were you just block entering for a couple of weeks mileage?

Perhaps you guys should stop and think logically about heaping praise on people that cannot prove they rowed 1m let alone a million in 6 days.

It takes me 6 months to row 1 million not 6 days.

The Challenges are a joke until Concept 2 dumps the system where you can manually type in any result you like.

Ms. Michna's name also remains at the top of the FTC individual leaderboard. Confessing one's "disappointment" would seem premature. Jack

A response to Carl Watts...

All of Darlene's meters are uploaded using the Concept2 Utility app. Darlene set a world record for one million meters (Female, 70-79, Lwt) during the first eleven days of the most recent Fall Challenge. Concept2 requires a .cvs file and a verification code for any new records.
