Pitting on rail

Post by ffrink23 » September 25th, 2014, 8:19 am

Hate to have to post this but, before my workout last night, I noticed very small pit on the rail. The hole has exposed the dull metal under the shiny top layer. The location is on the right side of the rail about a foot from the connecting point. When the seat is in its most forward position, it is under the right rear wheel. When in use, the wheels do not pass over the spot so it will not be an issue during workouts. I was just wondering if there is anything like wax or other product to seal or apply to protect the rail from any further deterioration. I was very surprised that this could even happen. I usually keep the rail clean. I must have been some pretty acidic perspiration!!!!

Thanks in advance
Mike

The strip on the top of the rail is a user replaceable part. It's held down with some strong double sided tape. You can buy a new one from Concept2 and have it fitted in less than ten minutes.

Thanks for the reply. I didn't see that part listed but I have sent them an email.

Sounds like it will be an easy fix.

thanks again,
Mike
