So team, I am really excited! I have applied gentle pressure for close to a year now, never raising the subject of buying my own Concept 2 rower. Always just raving about it and talking about all things rowing. Today at the breakfast/brunch table my wife says, 'Well, how expensive is a good one of those? Hallelujah! Hallelujah! I need to proceed carefully, but I see my own personal C2 appearing over the horizon, apartment dwelling space issues not withstanding. :D  B)

So, here's my beef with this very early (1861) Concept2 design:

Image

1. Horrible form
2. Formal unisuit requires bulky jacket, apparantly including a cravat
3. Unacceptable damage to interior wall from mechanism installation
4. No semblance of "on-the-water feel" with optional slides.
5. Pillow! Why do they get to use a friggin' pillow!?!? (Oh, pardon me, "hassock".)

Cool picture Lisa! If the man was sitting on something with wheels, which would allow him to glide back and forth ... That would almost fit the bill for a dynamic erg.

And John, I hope it works out for you to get the rower at home. It doesn't get any better than having a home gym.

As of now we have about one week in the books on the FTC effort. I am slightly ahead of schedule. I have been keeping up my cross training which is the real challenge. I have rowed 52k+, taken 4 spinning classes, completed 2 hard weight workouts, and completed a bootcamp class which consisted of 25 minutes of calesthenics and 25 minutes of high intensity weight training. I need to find a rest day this week, although during the FTC I think my rest day will include about 10k of long slow distance rowing! Let's go team!

Had energy left over at the end... but, speaking of the 'end'...as I predicted, one's bottom that really takes a beating on the Marathon! I stayed on the machine - drank lots during the row - varying the pace and effort helps reduce fatigue. It was really cold and windy in Pittsburgh today - ironically, we lost power this afternoon so both the TV and Stereo went out (as well as my Row Pro on the Laptop (so happy for the C2Log Card!!!) - made for sort of a sensory-deprivation row.
Great stuff Bill! Thoroughly impressed! Before the season's end I would like to row my first marathon, for now I just want to get my FTC 200K in though.
