Hi all. I'm in the Portland-area, and planning to make the trip north for the biggest event in our area. I'm interested to find out if there are any other folks on this board planning to attend. It might be nice for a few of us to get together and actually meet before/during/after the races.

Also, if anyone's in the Portland area and needs a ride, message me.

I am really glad to read that you are making the drive to Seattle. I think Cees is planning on racing there. It is a nice little race venue. Try and get some photos and video of your race.

Thanks Thomas I will. Any chance you might be making another trek north this year?

I actually thought about it weeks ago, I thought about it after I heard that Cees was going, and I thought about it again after I read you were going, but I can't. I am glad I raced at Ergomania and at Monster Erg last year. It was a nice vacaton. For 2005, I will be racing the weekend on January 23 (Penisula Indoor Rowing Championship) and on January 29 (Golden State Indoor Rowing Championship). I also plan at racing at the BIRC in 2005. I have actaully considered racing at some of the British Grand Prix Races that do not occur in the dead of winter but that is under review.

I would encourage everyone to race at an erg race. It is kind of a nice way to complete a goal be it competition, weight loss, etc. The people that race are usually very encouraging to one another. There is some sort of respect for one another in that we all suffer together regardless of the end result.

Where do you find the schedules?

I asked more than 6 months ago, and still haven't seen one anywhere.

John - if you're looking for the schedule of races and locations, one place the calendar can be found is here: C2 Indoor Racing Schedule

Many of the races have their own websites, where even now you can begin to view the schedule for the actual race-day heats.

Also, RegattaCentral allows you to view and register online for a number of indoor rowing events.

Thomas, good luck in your multiple regattas! Perhaps we can train together online sometime...
I am going to go and cheer folks on. I've got a tendon problem right now that keeps me from training hard.

Luanne Mills will likely be there. She is the 60-70 lwt world record holder. That is my classification. I am partial to the old folks (veterans) events.

What age and weight categories are you all competing in? I'll be glad to give you support.

Grams

Thanks Grams!

I'll be getting thrashed in the Masters Mens heavyweights (30-39) trying not to come in dead last. I'm only around 6:50 - hoping the thrill of the venue will help me to break 6:45. Could use all the cheering you can spare!

Regards,
Mark

Who else is going to be there?

I'm planning on taking some video and pictures, if you let me know your event, I'll make it a point of locating you.

Remember folks, its in a different venue this year. Seattle Center is the name of the game. Lets hope its a lot cooler there than it has been at the old venue. I nearly died last year. (well, some of it was due to the erging)

Paul, I like your C handle. Would you liketo swap it for my D? Or can I pay you for it? I'll bring it or the money to Ergomania.

Go, Mark!

grams

As you can see, I believe in having spare parts around.

See ya at The Center.
