Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
Mark, thanks for the info. I shall have to investigate some cleaning sometime...
From my understanding though, these machines really do last a loooooong time. I think it is hard for them to wear out.

Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
So to recap, I was having difficulty with my resistance readings. As einal test I put the doer on 10 and rowed. Could not obtain a reading over 140 and was about go tear the machine down and clean it. Now I moved the machine from one room to another recently and one side of the housing was approx. 1 ft from the wall. Before tearing the machine down I moved it more towards the center of the room and the reading went up to approx. 170. So I moved it then more and my reading crept over 200, the target zone. So apparently machine placement is very important as well. I had a fantastic 8500 meter row and all felt right.
I have always done my normal maint. And cleaning. I agree Lisa and I hàve owned a lot of epuipment over the years. This is by far the best and most satisfying piece.

Great to hear it was your machine placement and not your machine conking out or you getting old.D6K9Cop wrote:So to recap, I was having difficulty with my resistance readings. Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
Hey team, I am taking advantage of the dog days challenge to measure my ability on the C2 at different distances. Tonight I did my own version of a time trial for 500 meters, my time was far from earth shattering @ 1:46.8 ; but it was a PR for me by at least 5 seconds. Over the course of the next several of months I plan to establish my record times for 1K, 2K, 5K, 6K, 10K, 30 minutes, and 60 minutes. I was really pleased with my results tonight. My program tonight was to do an easy 10 minute warm up row, rest briefly and then do the 500 meter sprint. After that I did some lower body weight training and ab/core work. I finished up with an easy 4K row to chip away at the Dog Days challenge.

Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
Planning is definitely required. 500m, while difficult, is close to an all out effort. You don't have to think about it much. Can't do that at any of the other distances. You have to somewhat know what you are capable of to set the right pace. I would suggest using past times and then assess current fitness and go from there in determining a pace. If you go too fast you will die. If you go too slow, then you sell yourself short.johnb wrote:I plan to establish my record times for 1K, 2K, 5K, 6K, 10K, 30 minutes, and 60 minutes.

Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
Nice to get feedback from you. I am definitely going to plan ahead and even with the all out sprint, I think I left a couple seconds on the table at 500 meters. I am regularly doing interval training these days and want to measure the effect on my performance over distances I have ranked in the past. I am hoping to be able to maintain a time of 1:50/500M in the 1000 meter row and I'd like to come in under 1:55/500M for the 2K distance. I will post my progress or lack there of as I tackle these goals.Cyclingman1 wrote:

Interesting that Paul is skipping 2K. I doubt very seriously that he can do it. Some of the current records are quite good.

More power to him! I love the Irish too, and it is a noble cause. I am no where near as ambitious, I only want to set my own P. R. and I hadn't committed to the HM and FM yet. What the heck, I am all in, by the end of this season I will establish a new P.R. in the HM and get my first FM in the books. You never fail to inspire Lisa.
