Woot!
8077 metres in 30.00 minutes as a lightweight finally. Into the top 10! HAH!
Dropped to 74.4kilos and decided to try a 30 minutes piece.
Started too conservatively probably. Splits were
1:54.7
1:52.9
1:50.5
1:50.6
1:48.8
I should probably kick out at about 1:52 right away, and then pick it up as the endorphins kick in after 10 minutes of suffering.

Well went for it for the half marathon, wanted to break 1.24.30, 2.00 p/500 ,ended up ripping a 1.23.10 ( avg 158.2 ), very pleased indeed with that, ranked me 44 in the 50 -59 age group. That's a good note to step away from the rowing a bit now, back to cycling. Think that time is about as good as I will do for the half marathon, as don't really want to focus too much on rowing, time to get the watts up on the bike for the british summertime!

Great job Chris
I can't say I'll be belting out a half marathon in the near future.
Not quite a PB, but I posted my fastest race time yesterday for the 500m.....1:22.9
New National record for the "Old Farts" 50 - 54 yrs. 2nd fastest overall for the meet.
1k was a little dissapointing in 3:05.......I was hoping to go under 3:00
There's always next time.
Keep posting those PBs guys......its all about going forward

Just did a PB of 7:22 for the 2k. Very pleased with that
I'm a 33 year old male and about 63kg. I've only been rowing for 2 months, but have a long background in ultra-running and cycling.

Not quite a PB, and compared to most on here not very impressive, but i did a 7:39.5 2k today, my fastest time in 8 years (and since 3 knee and 2 wrist surgeries). Another 8 seconds to get my PB........

Well down Luke and Paul. Small victories are very important to me with rowing. Always a good feeling to get a time that you're personally proud of

Congrats, man!
Mine isn't much of a PB but last night's row took me to 522km for 2014, which is my personal best for a year. I'd just had 10 days out with injury too.
At current rate of improvement I should start making PBs in terms of times in about 6-8 weeks, I think. Head down...

Learning, improving, getting stronger, and wanting more.

Recent tests: 1:41.7/500 for 1k; 1:34.9/500 for 2 minutes

Did my first ever 2k erg a few weeks back, having been at the rowing club for about 6 weeks..... 6:55.9s
Any tips on how I can improve it? I like to train at a high stroke rate but a lot of people suggest its better to take the rate down and power through?
Cheers

Ouch!!!!!
8144m in 30 minutes.
1693 1:49.8 23
1625 1:50.7 24
1635 1:50.0 26
1599 1:52.5 28
1647 1:49.2 28
Lost it a little in the 4th interval. Had to back off the effort level and up the rate to stay aerobic.
As a cyclist, I'm used to spinning, not mashing, which seems the opposite of how everyone says to go in rowing.
Anyway. That was painful. Won't be going for another PB for a while!

I am not sure what you mean by mashing, but rowing is definitely not like spinning. Spinning is continuous. Rowing is an alternation of hard drive and relaxed recovery.

The cycling equivalent would be pushing a too big gear. It's more efficient to gear down an spin at 90 to 100 rpm.
Slow rating and hard pulling seems to send me anaerobic. At a fast pace, like 1:50 or faster, I have to be doing 26 or more. Otherwise each stroke is like weight training and exhausts me. Drag factor 130.

Marathon! Done! Yay! Started rowing for crossfit and LOVE it so much I had to join in on the challenge

Time 3:21:00 and surprisingly no worse for wear. Only a couple blisters on my fingers.
