Wanted to wish Barb a safe and good run in the marathon. We here in AR are proud of our Looney teammate. Was wondering if she is on the cover of SI this week. We watched a doc the other day with Marty about Juli Windsor. She ran last year and was stopped at 25.7 It is very painful for a little person to run a marathon. Marty doesn't run but he and Jay want to bike in two century rides this summer.
Good luck Barb!!!

I also want to add my Good Luck wishes to Barb in the Boston Marathon.

And getting back to Richard's Bunny Trails thread, I just came across on topic that got some buzz on Pinterest - a 14th century print apparently showing rabbits on cell phones. K2, I think they're onto you.

Say what ?! Rabbits on cell phones? Those rabbits probably had plague fleas back in ancient times! I'm sure that rabbit was ear-scratching vs on a mobile!

And, we'll all be watching for bg to cross the finish line in yet another Boston adventure! One year she sent a photo just prior to her start - and now that she has a smart phone, she might be able to do that again. If not, well we will use an old photo on Monday to cheer her on! Goooooooooo Barbara!

Bib Number 25788 Wave 3, Corral 8 ... as near as I can tell, this means that her start time is 11 AM ET

There are several ways to get updates on bg's progress throughout the race: here they are:
If you need the direct link to ATT athlete alert:

http://www.baa.org/races/boston-maratho ... alert.aspx

TEXT - Simply text the athlete's Bib Number to 345678 using your US mobile phone. You will then receive an sms text response with instructions on how to submit a runner’s bib number. You will receive up to 6 texts per bib number. Message & data rates may apply. Text STOP to cancel. Text HELP for help. Available on participating carriers only. Privacy Policy at: http://www.att.com/privacy.

EMAIL - Continue to the registration page for the AT&T Athlete Alert on the race website. Sign-up using your mobile phone number for SMS text message updates, or by entering an email address for email updates. Click here to sign up now.

ONSITE - If you prefer to register in person or have any questions, representatives will be available in the Bib Number Pick-Up area at the John Hancock Sports & Fitness Expo on Friday, April 18, from 12:00pm-7:00pm, Saturday, April 19 from 9:00am-7:00pm, and Sunday, April 20, from 9:00am-6:00pm.
If you register a mobile phone online, you will receive a message asking you to confirm your intention to receive updates from the 2014 Boston Marathon AT&T Athlete Alert.

Once you’ve completed registration for AT&T Athlete Alert, you will receive text updates courtesy of AT&T and the Boston Marathon when your runner has crossed the following points on the course:
10K
Half-Marathon
30K
Finish
Registration through the B.A.A. website will close on Sunday, April 20, at 6:00pm. However, AT&T is pleased to announce that registration via mobile phone text messaging (for US mobile phones only) will remain open during the marathon.

All In A Couple of Days of Erging! Team Progress Thru 4.17.

Post by Kona2 » April 18th, 2014, 12:32 pm

Welcome Lawrence A to the year round team! We wish you much camaraderie and many good rowing sessions!

Image Another episode....

I was going to tell you the story of Beep Beep and April, the Easter ducks...but I think I've already told you that story.

Image So this bunny trail is about dogs, and dogs who chase rabbits in their sleep. Those of us who are dog owners have seen it happen many times...your K9 is stretched out sound asleep, and suddenly starts moving his or her feet ... just like they were run run running. One of my dogs, Kihei (who is all golden retriever), will frequently give a beagle bugle arrooooooo during these episodes. Hear that at oh dark thirty, and you are WIDE awake. I wonder where she learned the beagle bugle? Arden Moore, a writer on VetStreet, says: "Just like us, dogs dream. They go through three sleep stages: NREM, non-rapid eye movement; REM, rapid eye movement; and SWS, short-wave sleep. It is in the SWS stage that a dog breathes heavily while he is sleeping. Animal experts theorize that dogs dream during the REM stage and act on their dreams by twitching or moving all four paws as if they were chasing a rabbit. " Short wave sleep....sounds like K9s tuning into the galactic network....Wiki says that short wave sleep is considered important as a time when new memories are consolidated, and that a primary function of this sleep period is to allow the brain to recover from its daily activities. And Moore says that for reasons unknown just yet, young puppies and senior dogs tend to move more in their sleep/dreams than other age groups.

Meanwhile, I really thought one of the big house projects was going to be finished yesterday. The mirror company was bringing in two biggie mirrors that give the illusion that the master bath is actually bigger than it truly is....the two fellows carrying the mirror had rounded the corner, and walked the first of two mirrors into the bathroom...and they hit the counter...all I heard was the crash of glass. And so it goes. We will finish another day...maybe next week. Arrrrrgh. I do have the data for both days.

Season meters as of 352 of 365 = 177,342,301 m

Total meters on the days = 834,249 m and 406,138 m

Oars in space (participation) = 28 and 19 percent
