A member of an indoor rowing team or club? If so, this is the place for you.

Can this one team row to the moon and back?

Well, it has been too darn cold for the sugaring season to begin, so I can't make any sap beer. I could refine some of my hard cider and make some more potent apple jack. I am a little worried about getting pulled over for RUI-Rowing Under the Influence  The limp is there. Going up and down stairs is particularly uncomfortable

Relax and don't over do it! The potent apple jack sounds very good! I will come over and we both get RUI- and have a lot of fun in the process!
God speed on recovery,

Image Day 11 of 32 in the World Erg Challenge...... Have No Regrets!!

Whoop, whoop and hooyah! By the time this is posted, am sure we will have crested the LUCKY SEVEN million meter milestone ( they are ALL lucky my friends!)...and be working on our memorable eights. Good stuff, Lunies, good stuff.

And, most excellent! Ed's popped into the number ten spot (he was in 12 when I started this about five minutes ago!) on the individual contributors list...and Richard T has passed the Ramsters on the turn. Kind of reminds me of watching Olympic speedskating - just don't let the toe of your skate hit the guy or gal in front of you or you'll both fly off the track. Yesterday, Adam was seeing Darlene in his rear view mirror (all ergs come with one...objects are closer than they appear)...and he's added a bit of distance today. Drama! Excitement! Intensity! Oh, and don't forget PAIN, which can be our constant companion on some of these lengthy challenges.

The Camel Club is a group of fictional characters created by American novelist David Baldacci. They are the protagonists of five of his novels - The Camel Club, The Collectors, Stone Cold, Divine Justice, and Hell's Corner. The original members are Oliver Stone, Reuben Rhodes, Caleb Shaw, and Milton Farb. The four are political watch-dogs, who are always looking for conspiracies within the government. That's the opinion of Wiki...and Goodreads says: The Camel Club, a group of four dysfunctional men who investigate political conspiracies (Oliver Stone, Milton Farb, Caleb Shaw, Reuben Rhodes, and honorary member Alex Ford, a Secret Service agent), in Washington, DC. Still, the books generally get four stars of five....just in case you're looking for something to read or listen to while you erg erg erg....

I had a bad fall last week and landed heavily on my tailbone-OUCH :x It is still pretty sore and it has been a challenge within the challenge to come up with a system of padding for the rower. A homemade foam pad with a "donut hole" for my tailbone seems to work the best. After the rowing sessions it has been "Triple I"--Ice, Ibuprofen and Immobilization! To add insult to injury, some ice coming off our roof whacked our satellite dish and I couldn't watch March Madness while I was rowing
Keep up the great work!

And the UK flag is waving at the top of the individual leaderboard again as Adam reclaims the lead...this is shaping up to be an epic battle in the top five of the mix! Looks like Richard T is having to work on rodent control as the Ramsters keep chasing him. After all, you know they like their Big Wheel in the Cage of Life...and nothing like the big wheel of the erg! Meanwhile, we MUST absolutely call out some other fine performances! In a team challenge, EVERY meter counts...whether it's 100 or 10,000 - they are ALL appreciated. We do have some folks who are spending quite a bit of time at the erg.... Ed (#12), Rosi (#27), Jim (#30), Jay (#33), Marie (#36), Ron (#37), Ronnie (#51), Walter (#52), Christa (#59), Michelle (#63), Anita (#70), Roger (#72), Norton (#75), bg (#81), Rivka (#87), Sarah H (#91) and Bernie S (#109).

Right now, if you've erged 108,500 m in the Challenge...you're in the Top Ten Percent of All Challengers! And whoop, whoop and hooyah...out of the 304 people who are in the top ten percent, THIRTY of them are year-round Lunies !!!! Way to go go go !! You are all so A M A Z I N G !!!

Sometimes I do get carried away with my descriptions -- it's all meant in good fun, and I do hope no one takes offense. Ramming Speed went to speedsters went to ramsters in my brain. It's not overly complicated, but sometimes it feels like it could be. At any rate, assume good intentions.

WEC: Onwards ... now in Day 13 of 32

Post by Kona2 » March 27th, 2014, 10:53 am

Image Day 13 of 32....WORLD Erg Challenge....well, what about the GALACTIC Challenge?!!

Things are lookin' up! OD has moved up a spot, gained a couple of people and Lunies gained a couple of people, too. We are delighted to have more teammates! The journey is so much more interesting when it can be shared. :D

Meanwhile, the distinctive sights and sounds of Spring are starting to SHOW UP. RIght in the middle of suburbia here in Rocky Mountainland is a ranch supply store. One frequented by people who wear ranch working boots as part of their normal day, instead of just for dress up when the rodeo is in town. The big draw this past week has been the arrival of peeps - baby chicks of all colors and varieties, including marshmallow. You can hear those peep peeep peeps as soon as you hit the store's entrance.

Of course, up until a couple of years ago, the property behind us was filled with a lot of mooooo's when spring came around. The dogs loved the cows - although was a big deal when they spotted the first cows of spring. Dogs would come to a screeching halt on their way down the deck stairs - uncertain whether to bark or run or do both. They usually did both. The fenceline is/was a great spot for meeting new neighbors. The calves were just as curious about the dogs as the dogs were about them. Nose to nose for sure. Alas, the cows have moved to further away pastures. But I digress.
