Will do. Sorry to hear about the knee! You know what John Madden said... "One knee equals two feet." Have you seen a doc?ronmardix wrote:New people join, others leave, but the base remains strong.
I'm still trying to get my knee to cooperate after my recent disagreement with the ice on my driveway - I did more damage than I realized at first; this just doesn't want to get better.
I'm very much hoping to be able to contribute to the upcoming team challenge. If you could put me down for 1k as my goal, then I'll see how it goes from there

I row at my gym and what I do is take a small gym towel and fold it over the seat, basically four layers of cloth when quartered and about the size of the seat. It does the trick for me! And yes, I hate that hard seat too!sillbeer wrote:30 minutes is all I could muster today. That seat and my butt don't like each other and I've only had my rig for a little over a week.
How is the seat pad? Does anyone use it or have a replacement seat they recommend?

Sorry to see you go Jim. Thanks for all your input. I will keep looking for your name on the record charts. You best time is only 4 tenths off of 2K WR for your age bracket! Hope you get it one of these days. Best of luck to you.Cyclingman1 wrote:I’m bidding TimbukTOO adieu today. Thanks for the interactions and record keeping.

I enjoy being a positive voice for erging, if that is what I am. I'll check in every now and then, but I'm going into hibernation. [See below]johnb wrote:Sorry to see you go Jim. Re getting WR. A yr ago I would have bet money on it. Fortunately I did not - bet money or get the record. Now, at 68 and all that implies, I'll have to get re-energized to get it.
Re: stepping back from TimbukTOO. I am one of those athletes who does best in total isolation. I've always been that way. It works for me. I was a champion duathlete (run, bike, run) for several years training totally on my own. I don't like to talk to others about my workouts or have others comment on my workouts, etc. I've gotten away from that, but I'm going back. Picture me in a remote cabin twenty miles from nowhere rowing like a maniac. When I'm ready, I'll come in from the cold. Maybe Crash-B 2015. Later. Jim G

Well, we're sorry to lose your leadership and input, but I'm glad it wasn't anything I said, or the fact that Izzz is such a taskmaster . Best wishes for you in achieving what you seek, and if you ever get lonely, come back for a post or two. We'd love to hear how you're doing and what you're getting up to. Jim, as a guy who likes to get continually better, who likes to ride that razor's edge between excellence and injury, I found your comments very helpful (even when I saw things differently). Your fitness at 68 is stunning, I hope I can even stay in the top few percent to that age, considering that I got into rowing to halt any progression of my diabetes.Cyclingman1 wrote:I enjoy being a positive voice for erging, if that is what I am. I'm sorry you chose to go solitude instead of silence, which at least gives you the opportunity to pull a Puxatawney Phil once in a while, then re-enter your dungeon when you need to get your game face back on.
I'm guessing - and hoping - we'll be hearing more from you one day... Izzz
Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
Came down with the flu Thursday night and have not been rowing since as it has completely zapped me. Taking it easy and trying to be fully recovered by challenge start. Are we pledging projected meters this go around? And sorry to see you go Jim as you were a valued and inspirational member.

Bummer! Get better soon! Yes, we'll have the option to track individual goals, so see how you're feeling when we get there. Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
Excellent 5k row tonight. Kept my stroke rate down in the mid to low 20's, mostly between 23-26 SPM and started really focusing on a more powerful stroke, followed by a more measured recovery. I still haven't beat my best time yet, but I am approaching it. About 25 seconds to go to beat my best frenetic 40 SPM effort, but I see the progress just 10 days into my effort. Once the World Erg challenge starts I plan to step up my distances on at least half my rows. Interspersing some 10k rows in with my 5k I hope to contribute 200k to the teams effort. So, that is my official projection LISA, Put me down for 200k!
