I had pictured Hulk Hogan with those splits and that drag. We're actually the same height although my guess is the 25 pounds you have on my is mostly muscle. If you ever want to donate some rowing muscle, I know a guy in Dallas....

Ha! Unfortunately the only noteworthy muscle on me is the one I sit on when I row! which is why I have the foot things set on position 1 (5 holes showing) as it allows me to use my big butt more.

When I first got my rower I resumed rowing with the damper at 10 (because that is how I always did it when I was young) which today shows a drag factor of 220. Then I read here that most people don't row with it at 10, so I dropped it to 5 (df of 138 today). Eventually I moved it up to 6 (df of 153 today) and then up to 7 (df of 175 today). I find that my stroke rate is in the low to mid 20s with the damper at 7, so that is pretty comfortable for me. If I set the damper too low my stroke rate is up over 30 and I don't really like that.

I apparently have little upper body strength, as the SkiErg has revealed to me. I am pathetically slow on the thing, and can really only do 2K at a time before I start crying! :x

Me too! Me too! 6'5", 210. Need to get back down to 199. But I live in Portland and, well, we make REALLY good beer here!

I can't row at those high drag factors or the coaches will yell at me. Right now we're in early season technique mode, and it's all about the subtleties of the stroke sequence.

I've got some perl, php, MySQL programs that harvest the data for SUB7. You're more than welcome to have a copy of my ugly code.
Thanks for the offer! I'm set up OK now though. It's a little more than just a harvester -- it allows us to set and track challenge goals for team members, and formats the forum post for easy (well, easier) daily posting. I could do the further automations Izz mentioned but I'm too OCD. Plus, I've got some other whiz-bang features I use that even HE doesn't know about. Mwa-ha-ha-haaaa!!!

I've unfortunately, just discovered this site a few days ago, so my log only goes back to March 1. Im currently trying out the March challenge, and hoping to participate in the marathon in May. Oh, and of course, the Global challenge in March/April!

Looking forward to all this! Thanks again!
Hey Janice, welcome aboard! Glad to have another lady rower to balance out all this stinky testosterone.

If you've been rowing on the same rower since before March 1, then those rows should still be in the PM memory. Izz was saying that you can get those out and upload them by connecting the PM up to the C2 website via your computer and a USB cable. It would be nice for you to have all that history data!

Ok, here is my latest question. My rowing/lifting routine is really getting dialed in. Now with my new routine today was an easy row. Here is the question, by easy row do we still row like 8000 meters which i did at a much slower 500 split time (2:15.2). Or doI row at a lower damper setting and less meters. My average damper reading is 3, which puts me b/t 100-105. Just trying to ascertain what an easy row is..My usual 500 split time average is 2:10-2:12 when working out. If i row for time on long rowa i can hold 2:01-2:02.

Sorry, I think it's an exclusive relationship, if you're talking about teams here on the Concept2 site...

Hi all. I just joined the team thanks to the great instructions by Izzzmeister. No issues at all with your instructions at all.

I'm looking forward to a lot of meters and great stories.

The higher my damper setting, the better my form, because my stroke rate decreases. When I was using a lower damper setting my form fell apart towards the end of the row because my stroke rate was so high; sometimes above 30 if I was going for a PB. I would get too tired. Not so with a higher damper setting. My form is probably not as good as Andy or Glen's, as they are in a boat and need to have perfect form. But i have good form for an erg.

Cap'n Izzz also uses a higher damper setting, and he is a big guy:

And as far as crazy fast paces go ... Have you seen Jim Grattan's times? And he is 20 years older than me!
