It couldn't be that most all aids patients take high levels of antibiotics, could it? Naaa that couldn't be it.
In the old forum, this would often go on at great lengths, an endless series of JR posts followed by various people quacking. But at least it helped the rest of us avoid those threads, and allowed a response without feeding the troll.
Anyone can look at the beginning and continuation of this thread, and see that I posted a universal protocol, which has been and continues to be used by many for the prevention and cure of cellulitis.

In response, the medical quacks showed their presence with personal attacks or quacks or whatever.

This, because their methods have no merits.

The real purpose of this thread, however, is not to assuage the egos of medical quacks but, rather, to determine the most effective treatment and protocol for cellulitis. This also comes to a personal choice, between choosing (1) a method that continues to work for many people, many of whom were given up for dead by the medical profession, or (2) a method that has consistent and ongoing failures.

Hi Everyone,
Just returned from a trip visiting with my daughter! She was looking and feeling well. I could see that all the inflamation of the veins was gone (the original nurse at the college health center had "mapped" my daughter's arm in ink; which was smart and provided a clear indicator for subsequent comparison). Her arm is a little sore but Motrin helps that.
The nurse I spoke with was well aware of the severe form of cellulitis, and they had been very relieved to see my daughter's arm and hand much improved after starting antibiotics. They are monitoring her closely.
Interestingly, I also discovered that she was not the first person on her team to have had this problem this Fall . Needless to say, the head coach had a talk (finally) with the entire team about proper hygiene and they will wash down the handles with dilute bleach solution after use.
Thank you for your concern and comforting words.

You are entirely welcome. I'm glad she's doing better. Outbreaks in multiple members of the same team seem to be very common with MRSA cellulitis, so it wouldn't surprise me at all if that's what they all had/have.

Best regards,

Andrew

Hi Andrew,
You think it could be the resistant type of cellulitis even though she responded so quickly to the antibiotic (Keflex)?

Maybe one of those sting rays bit the handle.

Lol's Mom:

Less likely but not impossible. Really, it's pure speculation without culture results with antibiotic sensitivity testing. The epidemiology is right, though. Anyway, the important thing is that she is getting better. Good team hygiene sounds like a good idea!

Best,

Andrew

That's good news that the daughter is on the mend.

QUOTE

Good team hygiene sounds like a good idea!

Since I got my own C2, I don't go to the gym any more. When I used to go, there was a large table with paper towels or clean rags and bottles of spray cleaner. I'm not sure what was in the cleaner. There were signs asking you to please clean the machine after use. People were good about it. When a person got off he or she would grab the cleaner and towel and spray and clean the handles, the seat, or parts of the machine.

I assume this is standard in all gyms. At least I hope so.

Byron

He's worried about MSSA and/or MRSA infections being in the environment. He's thinking of leaving a spray bottle of disinfectant on the window sills to see if anyone uses it (or whether it gets nicked).
Anyway, I awoke in the night in agony and went to hospital that day - spent 3 nights there getting penicillin injections at regular intervals. It was the worst pain I think I have ever experienced, as it later formed a blood clot. Especially sore when my leg was lowered.

I can't remember how long it was before I was fully recovered - although I was able to walk about a couple of days later.

Now it's just a distant memory and a fading scar.

Used to be prevalent in the musclehead gyms where they didn't wipe down the pads with disinfectant.

I had it years ago on my upper arms and it was quite painful but did go away with antibiotics and betadyne. I hope she's recovered by crew season.

Good luck
