Good luck Barb B) I think I would be close to you, if you came in last. I'm not a sprinter-built for comfort, not for speed  As I move up in distance, I also move up the percentile charts in the rankings. By the way, where does the term "Crash-B" come from?

Perhaps hopscotch is one of those games that you never quite forget how to play....and besides, the sidewalk chalk is a lot better these days ! Just ask AJ ... creator of many sidewalk art fests ! And...some write ups suggest that hopscotch origins go back to the Roman Empire days..when Roman soldiers in full armor would hop through 100 yard courses in order to build up strength in their training regimens. Modern day gladiators (football of the American version) now use a course of tires that they run through (hoping for one foot per tire) in order to improve their footwork...

Image ImageImage Lunies on the Valentine Challenge Honor Board....

Image

We have some pretty well known bike rides here in the Rocky Mountains...Ride the Rockies, USA Pro Challenge...and I'm sure that many of our teammates have similar iconic things that bring in lots of revenue to their states and countries. The rides mentioned are pretty beasty - and conjure up mental images of racer types clad in lycra. So the Denver Post decided (with a little push from the governor and the state tourism office I'm sure) to create a ride that is billed as "for the rest of us." Truth is, you experience travel in a different way when you hike, or climb mountains or bike. And, while the Rocky Mountains are beautiful, the governor thought it would be good for riders to experience where we produce food here, to know where your food comes from before it hits the markets. That's how a ride called Pedal the Plains was born a few years ago. Flat route (although I have learned that when a route is called flat, that is usually the OVERALL assessment...but there can be some nasty little hills in the middle), rural, farmy. I probably wouldn't have thought about Pedal the Plains this early in the season (it's a September ride) except that the governor talked about it at the Bike Summit. He's a great story teller, and he didn't fail us at that meeting either.

Season meters as of 289/365 = 134,040,519 m
