Welcome back to the year round team to Walter W, and welcome to new teammates Robby H and Kyle M (Terry's been recruiting )! We wish you many good erg sessions and lots of good camaraderie! We hope to bring out the best (and the BEAST) in all our teammates!

Gotta admit that all this football mania is sure sweeping the city! The televised games don't always show Thunder, the Arabian that's ridden down the field from south to north after every Broncos score. His "team" includes his rider, a handler, and one who is the pooper scooper. And then there's the Thunderstorm, a four person skydiving team that parachutes onto the field prior to each game - weather permitting.

Funny thing about the carrots....I guess when they were getting Thunder used to a quick gallop down the sidelines, he was kind of freaked out by the pom poms held by the cheerleaders. To get past that fear, the trainers gave the cheerleaders carrots that they hid in their pockets to give Thunder. Thunder now makes a beeline (or a carrot line) for the cheerleaders...poms long forgotten. So, yes, I hope he gets to eat a lot of carrots as he goes by on Sunday...


After the 52-20 Broncos win against the Eagles, a reporter told Peyton Manning that the 52 was a Broncos' franchise high. Peyton quipped, "May have to give ol' Thunder an IV after that one." Snort.

I always have to remind myself what time zone each of the times is operating in - because the numbers can look really different at different times of day. Hope it is the start of a great weekend for everyone - and, a three day weekend for some in the northern hemisphere!

OK, to go totally off topic here. I hope this is not a misuse of the team site. To celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary, Lyn and I are hoping to go to Scotland this summer. I am a complete neophyte when it comes to travel. My head is spinning from all the information and choices Escorted vs independent, packages with or without flights, a plethora of tours and itinerary. If anyone out there has any tips, advice, suggestions, warnings etc., I would really appreciate hearing form you. So as not to clog up the site, anyone can respond to me by private message.
