Looks like we've moved up to third place...for now anyway. There's still a chance some meters haven't been entered yet.

I find all the references to "bubble wrap" funny. I use two of those egg foam squares and they seem to work really well and have good venting properties as well. Better than the folded up towel I used to use. It's not my bum that hurts, but my hands and knee joints, but if a 70 year old lady can put in the kind of meters that she did for this challenge I feel like a wimp complaining about my aches and pains. Sheesh!
“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty & well preserved body, rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, used up, totally worn out, & loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!”

A couple of those pesky powerhouse Ancients live in my zipcode, so still lots of time to row some uber-meters, today. (Sadly, them, not me!)

No venting occurs when I use egg foam squares ... those suckers become pancake flat; but they do feel lovely when one first sits down! My hands haven't bothered me in ages, though I used to wrap them. Knees, however, are a basic design flaw.

... to wubba who! I looked at 4:30 and we were a mere 40K behind our Ancient nemeses ... now, at 7:00 pm we're 400K in the hole, and counting. Guess I won't come home from my neighborhood bunco tonight, and rowing like crazy to do that "go out in a blaze of glory" thing! Until the next time, y'all!

Image This one is in the books!

Thanks to ALL who rowed and skierged with our Fall Challenge Team. We had TOP FIVE finishes in all categories! The Challenge had three categories: skierg meters only, indoor rower meters only, and combined skierg and indoor rower meters. I'm listing those categories separately below to highlight the great work by our team. A second place in the Skierg category, a fifth place in indoor rower category, and a fourth place overall. The Ancients had just 2.4 percent more meters than we did...and that's a fine horse race....sets us up quite well for a rematch in a later team challenge!

Well, Minnie sent me to the dictionary with the to wubba who comment...thought maybe she had started her bunco party early there! Then, when I saw references that this urban slang phrase came from the American space western drama series "Firefly", I realized that it was another one of those teachable moments...

to wubba who? An expression of confusion, used when mis-hearing or misunderstanding what some one has said....or, in this case, not having a clue what it meant...

7 Million Lifetime Meters for Ed !

Post by Kona2 » October 16th, 2013, 11:13 am

Whoop, whoop and a blaze of glory! In a two day stretch that netted Ed 125K meters, and the inability to sit down comfortably for awhile, he also passed a significant milestone....the fabulous LUCKY SEVEN million lifetime meters. Hahaha! They are ALL lucky, actually. Congratulations, Ed, and speedy healing to you! A fine effort!

And, we are indeed on our way to the moon again.....and, I hear that Mars is calling....

Image Next up in the Challenges category....it's the Skeleton Crew Challenge! But first, some words and numbers about yesterday!

Lots of good participation and blazing streaks of meteors shooting across the skies of our rowing universe in the last four weeks! Some will take a few days of well deserved rest, and try to get some balance between rowing and all the things that were put on hold because of rowing (and skierging!). Some of us will start rowing more as we swing the exercise pendulum into better balance! Meanwhile, we happily welcome returning teammates Nataliya and Christa. Always good to see your names on the roster. :D And I'm pretty sure I saw a reindeer leaping today as the herd starts thinking about the Holiday Challenge... :D

Season meters as of 168/365 = 51,265,205 m

Total meters on the day = 1,009,176 m

Oars in space (participation) = 36 percent
