I've been using the Ski Erg for a couple of years now. I started with a drag factor of 70 (damper setting at 4) at SPM 30 - 35. But now I find that I am more comfortable with a drag factor of 50, same SPM (that is, lower damper setting).
Just wondering what experience other users have with Ski Erg drag factor....... over time, does anyone else find that they have to adjust the damper settings?
Also, what is the recommended drag factor setting for the Ski Erg? Any idea what drag factors the national ski teams are using ?
Cheers!
What Drag Factor is everyone using?
Re: What Drag Factor is everyone using?
That seems very strange. The SkiErg and the indoor rowers use the same wheel and a similar monitor. On a rower a damper setting of 4 will give a drag factor of about 120. I don't know of any reason why there should be any difference between them. I checked out the C2 site, and found nothing in the SkiErg pages that would suggest any differences. The damper setting/drag factor relationship shouldn't be affected by the way that the chain is pulled. The monitor are not exactly the same. The wording is different, but that should not have anything to do with the DF.Maximus wrote:I've been using the Ski Erg for a couple of years now. Re: What Drag Factor is everyone using?
Thanks Bob. Well, that is indeed interesting. Does anyone else have experience with the DF on the Ski Erg? Maybe time for me to contact my nearest Concept 2 technician!
Re: What Drag Factor is everyone using?
The Skierg uses the same flywheel and flywheel cover as the Model D and E, but has an additional disc on the damper (part #1325 here: http://www.concept2.com/files/pdf/us/sk ... ematic.pdf ) that lowers the drag factor range. This is to accomodate the lower force/higher rating that is typical of skiing. C2JonW

Ah! Interesting - a hidden part that makes the difference. Thanks, Jon. That's good to know.

Re: What Drag Factor is everyone using?
Putting the Dynamic Rower p/n 1087 Wind Shield on top of your SkiErg flywheel screen is not a bad idea for protecting the metal from sweat that can fly off your head into it. That would also lower the DF.

Thanks Carlb, that sounds like a good idea.
In a similar vein, just wondering whether anyone has tried to fix a C-Breeze on a Skierg?
