Thanks Pat. I will hang in there, though it feels more like 'sag in there'. Hypothyroidism is a very common condition for women over 50 (take notice ladies) but fortunately it's easily treated. Finding the right dose takes time however, as too high a dose can land one in the ER. Not my idea of fun. But yes, I suspect that it really is a lifelong condition, once present. Isn't it just sooo much fun being female???PJM wrote: Hang in there with your thyroid issues,Ms Hummingbird! You can win the battle..

It is nice to be rowing again, though. I felt like doing more this morning, but stopping at 5 k bodes well for being able to do another 5 k tomorrow. I'll just have to get used to being moderate for awhile...not so easy for us red-heads

Thanks...and I'll be working my tail off trying to get back to my old form, too. That was a special year for me, hopefully to be repeated sometime.Hummingbird wrote:Get Well Soon, H! I remember working my tail off trying to keep up with you when I first started...Kyle J wrote:
I had no idea what you were talking about until I looked it up on the internet: what an incredible creature! Man, nature never fails to astound me. I won't give up my little hummingbirds, but I'd really like to see one of those moths up close and alive. I'm flabbergasted. How did you ever know about it in the first place???
I was with a friend and it came swooping into some shrubs right in front of us. She had seen them before and told me what it was. AND last Tuesday I was working near Lake Champlain...sat on a stone wall to eat lunch and one of those moths buzzed in to pick at some flowers not two feet from me.
I swear I'm not drunk or making this up! What we see when we're not staring at our phones.
Here's to repeating special years

Once more, a picture tells a thousand words.
(I love it when cats stick their tongues out; it looks so stupid and they are sooo proud. Truly a Zen moment for them--and us!)

I trust that you are neither drunk nor making this up: I couldn't believe it when I saw the picture on the internet; I imagine I would be thinking I was crazy if I had ever seen one in front of my eyes before knowing a creature like this existed. Now I want to see one alive.... Vermont, is it?Kyle J wrote:

Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
Pat and Hummingbird.
I've been there with the thyroid too. Mine was hyper. It was horrible. I had to take radioactive iodine to kill it off. Now I'm normal on synthroid and feel fine. It wont take long to get to back to normal.
Regards,
TomW

Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
The thyroid is responsible for so many functions of the body and affects many functions..heart muscle etc.I have been controlled with Synthroid for the past 3 years and so far so good.Routine blood tests, ultrasounds of the thyroid every 2 years and an occasional stress test with echocardiogram..and i am in maintenance mode.Feeling pretty good and optimistic!outsidenote wrote:Pat and Hummingbird.

Hi Lisa, just rounding out the week, or season-to-date.damselfly wrote:

So far 70 rows this season, at an average of 16K meters per session; totaling 70 hours of rowing. An average pace of 1:52.5 / 500M, or I guess that would be 10 miles per hour.
Last season I tried to set all kinds of speed records, and did pretty well, but maintaining this fast average pace all season long has been far more challenging. And I think I am in much better shape than l was last year, though some of that improvement may be due to moving towards a more plant-based whole food diet.
Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
My club hosts a visiting coach about once a month during racing season. I attended Saturday's clinic and it was great. It was 102F that day, but we got all of our rowing done before noon. I love the heat, but I think my new rule is no rowing in triple digits.damselfly wrote:Andy I - 19,677 Holy moly, batman! What's the occasion?!?!
