LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
House of Cards
I started watching House of Cards, this evening. Wondering which rowing machine Kevin Spacey is using in the series ... wild looking piece of exercise furniture, which seems to involve water!

Possibly the water rower? http://www.waterrower.co.uk/. Really interesting idea, but all that water...!

I've heard that on the WaterRower, instead of sprinkling in little bouts of intensity with Power 10's, they use a Power Flush.
Best of luck recovering from Morton's Neuroma, Laurie.

Water Whoosh
Uh huh; funny. I did, however, do a quick google, just in case there really is a Power Flush in rowing-talk ...danwho wrote:I've heard that on the WaterRower, instead of sprinkling in little bouts of intensity with Power 10's, they use a Power Flush.
Laurie, Super Sleuth. The WaterRower looks just like the one in House of Cards. The link lets you listen to what it sounds like ... lordy, mega whoosh. I'd never be able to hear my movies while rowing!
Re: Water Whoosh
I have heard how the WaterRower sounds, which was the inspiration for that joke. But I also had to do a quick google, just to be sure. You could imagine there being a grain of truth to it. Not so with the following groaner, for which I apologize in advance ...just27 wrote:I did, however, do a quick google, just in case there really is a Power Flush in rowing-talk ...
Overheard at a gym that had only one WaterRower: A man waiting to get in his morning WaterRower workout was getting a little frustrated with the guy in front of him, who was just sitting on it during his recovery. He was heard to say, "C'mon man. Row or get off the pot."
My only excuse is that my brain may have been a little deprived of oxygen during the Power Flushes in this morning's row. Once I've fully recovered, and had some coffee ...

Water rowers....power flushes....you have been a creative crew! Thanks very much to everyone and especially to Ron for keeping the stats alive while I was camping and running some golf tourneys. It was a very soggy camping trip - over 2 inches of rain fell one afternoon. Rode my bike over to the marina, only to find a fun quote of the day:
There were some good mountain bike trails...but rounding one corner, found that we needed to cross one of the highways that runs through the State Park. It was a scene that could have happened in New Zealand....hundreds of sheep being herded down the road. The choke point was that there was a small gate they had to go through on the left side of the road. Still, it was very fun (and notice that there are a FEW black sheep...so there are some independent souls in that flock). Enjoyed that the herders were on horseback, and on foot instead on on ATVs. It was also a free range area, and there were a lot of cows about...and I started thinking about those westerns where there were these big fights between the cattlemen and the sheep guys. Turns out that Hahn's Peak, the area where we were, was the site of the last sheep-cow "discussion." I mean people were killed over grazing rights. Fortunately, the Hahn's Peak groups were negotiators. This is all in Routt County, Colorado. Routt County puts a Share the Road sticker on all its public vehicles - and it's got farm equipment, cattle, bicyclists and autos. The farms and ranches have willingly put up some bigger banners of the same thing - reminding everyone to be watchful for stock and bikes on the road. (And it was a good thing it rained, because after all those sheep got through with the road....hooboy, power wash was needed...and that would have been a lot of water rowers.

Forget the August dogs; I might have to watch Black Sheep. I hear it's a wicked twisted fun zombie movie, with sheep; shot in Kiwiland. Sounds like shear terror. Woolly bullies in the Netflix queue; maybe good for a HM!Kona2 wrote: ... It was a scene that could have happened in New Zealand....hundreds of sheep being herded down the road. ... Whoop, whoop and hooyah! Birthday fireworks and best wishes for a fabulous year to our birthday "twins" Barbara aka bg and Chris aka Minnie! We wish you many, MANY more!!
Btw, The Birthday Book calls August 6th The Day of Unique Happenings! Says that those born on August 6 have a lust for experience. They are particularly drawn to happenings of a very unique or extraordinary sort, perhaps once-in-a-lifetime occurrences...." I'd say that was pretty accurate given what we know about these two gals....I mean, bg just completed a Naked Run and Minnie went to Venice and a few other places...and ONE of them is surely considering skydiving...."it is the unexpected that happens!"
