No earth moving under my feet, but things on the wall were swinging around. I had just decided to watch Jack Reacher, and get over the fact that tiny Tom Cruise was playing hugh Jack Reacher. (I'm perfectly fine with tall/lean Hugh Jackman as short/sturdy Wolverine. There is no logic.) So, I rowed a bit tentatively, last night, waiting for any aftershocks. The resulting 14241 was yet another nod to your no-coincidences newspaper funnies.Kona2 wrote: ... Minnie felt the earth move in yesterday night's California earthquake. Whoa. This is the Prius of the big bird family. Not a whisper of sound as these approached the golf course pond, and began to move the geese out of the way...then there was much honking and hooting and bird noises. The pelicans and geese are not friends. Their landing was absolutely so cool - a great image for the day with those orange feet skipping through the surface of the water. But I really didnt know that Colorado was part of their migratory pattern....
Good to see the team growing! Another teammate has returned for the 2014 Rowing Season - and it's the other Jeff G! Welcome back! And, we have our first person to hit the HALF million meter milestone....hooboy! Nothing like a cool half million! You could celebrate with a brewhahahaha...

Good point! Storms, drought conditions, encroaching human activities, disappearing habitats....we impact our fellow global residents in lots of ways!Drivetofast wrote:K2 storms cause Birds to fly different routes. Hooboy! Another teammate signs on for the 2014 Rowing Season....it's Karyn G, our on-the-water gal ! Great to see another returning teammate! Great to see new teammates, too, so if you are lurking about the site, do consider joining us for year round Looney fun! There's always room for more...

Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
My May rowing was not so good but hope to pick it up in June. Had strep early in the month and felt crummy the rest of it. Tired, sore, etc. Then started having arthritis like symptoms in my left hand (first three fingers). Saw the doc earlier in the week and apparently I still have strep! On round 2 of antibiotics and hoping that takes care of that. Hoping maybe that helps with the left hand issues, too? Did a row of about 10 minutes today and was just wiped, so going to ease back into it as I am able.
Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Here's wishing you a quick recovery! Go at the pace you're comfortable with - it is a long season, and we would much rather it be a good, healthy one for you! This part of the rowing year is kind of like hitting the rowing doldrums. We've just finished several month long Challenges, and all those things in our lives that get put on hold when we are really pushing for our C2 milestones come thundering up to the forefront of life! Then there's that yardwork...whoa! Springtime is yielding to summer (just doesn't seem right to go from snowstorm to lawn mower in less than three weeks!) ....and schooooooool's almost out for many.Kerry1976 wrote:My May rowing was not so good but hope to pick it up in June. Memorial Day - remembering and honoring those who have died in the service of their country.
It's also the unofficial start to the summer season! Concept2's Summer Solstice Challenge on 21 June will mark the official start....whoop, whoop and hooyah! Plus, if you found the half marathon distance elusive during the Global Marathon Challenge....just tack on 97 m to the 21,000 required for completing the Summer Solstice...and you've got yourself a nice half marathon.
Looks like 21 June is a Friday, and this might make the Challenge better for some of our teammates. Just throwing out this suggestion....would LOVE to see bg complete her first rowing half marathon (no, wait...I think it's the full marathon that she hasn't done yet).....what do you say, Barbara? You already string together more than enough meters on a daily basis.....think about it! I know you can do it ! Yes, this is unabashedly an astrogator ploy to wave a half marathon carrot out there....

I Love A Parade....song by Arden and Ohman
I love a parade,the tramping of feet,
I love every beat I hear of a drum.
I love a parade, when I hear a band
I just want to stand and cheer as they come.
That rat-a tat-tat, the blare of a horn.
That rat-a tat-tat, a bright uniform;
The sight of a drill will give me a thrill,
I thrill at the skill of everything military.
I love a parade, a handful of vets,
A line of cadets or any brigade,
For I love a parade.
Enjoy this day of celebration and remembrance! For some, it's a parade or a family cookout...or both.

Elena Delle Donne Dazzles Sky beats Britteny Grinners Mercury by 22

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 5.27.13
Way to go, Richard T! One of the biggest challenges that the WNBA has is to widen its fan base, and get people to support these athletes. There are some great players in the college basketball ranks, and many of them have some amazing life stories to go along with all that talent. Elena Delle Donne - we talked about her in this forum before - was the number 2 draft pick, and attended the University of Delaware. Brittney Griner attended Baylor University, and Skylar Diggins attended the University of Notre Dame. The WNBA is hoping that these women will also be game changers in the sense that their popularity carries over and helps create more WNBA fans. Elena plays for Chicago Sky, Brittney for Phoenix Mercury, and Skylar for Tulsa Shock.
It's a process to build a sport and get the attendance numbers. Charismatic players help make it so!
Elena, Brittney, Skylar
There aren't very many teams in the WNBA. Perhaps you can catch a game if you live in or near these cities!
They are:
Atlanta Dream
Chicago Sky
Connecticut Sun
Indiana Fever
New York Liberty
Washington Mystics
LA Sparks
Minnesota Lynx
Phoenix Mercury
San Antonio Silver Stars
Seattle Storm
Tulsa Shock
