All In A Couple of Days of ERGing: Team Progress Thru 5.4.1

Post by Kona2 » May 5th, 2013, 10:53 am

And in a flash....the horse race was over! Orb (which is another name for the moon, at least in the Moody Blues album Days of Future Passed...cold hearted orb that rules the night) scored a come from behind win!

Meanwhile, more milestones were recorded by teammates - and more returning teammates!

Global Marathon Challenge: since last posting (what a tough Challenge to start the rowing season, too!)

Say...I just noticed that the Rower of the Day is a Luna-Tic ... it's Fritz M!

And...my bad puns must have hushed the Luna-Tic crowd....

Nah, we were all just a bit busy, dusting off our blenders for the gallons of margaritas that must be consumed today ... Happy Cinco de Mayo!

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 5.5.13

Image Lots of stars in the skies of our Rowing Universe!

Global Marathon Challenge: There's still time !

Worthy Challenge to start the 2014 Rowing Year ! Still, these aren't for everyone (and so far this year, they haven't been for me). Would much rather see teammates work up to these rather than just giving it an all out go. Recovery takes a lot of time. And while some have gradually moved from half marathon to full, most of the time it just seems easier to make the erg leap to the full. It is a lot of time to be sitting on the erg seat no matter which one you happen to choose. Upholstery foam or memory foam seems to be the cushion of choice for those who want a softer surface. This year is the first that I've heard of heel or toe blisters from full marathoners.

Today's contributions to the Global Marathon Honor Board are mostly from the European side of the team: countries represented are Switzerland, GBR, and the Netherlands....and the great state of Ohio from the USA!

Full Marathons: 8 teammates have completed 10 full marathons

Half Marathons: 18 teammates have completed 20 half marathons

Two of each: 2 teammates have completed two of each

It's baseball season....support your local teams!

Image Ron has graciously agreed to post stats for the next week while I go play golf somewhere warmer! Thank you thank you thank you! Keep those milestones, and celebrations, coming! Btw, I ran my first golf tournament for the ladies league last weekend - and one of the things that I did was to ask the gals, as they turned in their scorecards, whether or not they had had any best evers or firsts during their golf round. Two of them had just broken 100 for the first time (which is a biggie milestone). Turns out, people like to celebrate best evers in all kinds of events...and I am sure that the golf league will have a section for best evers from now on. Love it when a plan comes together!

Check out the rankings for 50-59 ML HM :)
My best time in almost 5 years. (I had wanted to do an FM on Sunday, but did too much yard work, and wimped out, and decided I needed to try to a better HM.)

Less than 100 meters from 600k but sick and can't get it done. Oh well. Whenever I get to it will be good.
