The little pep talks, remarks and stats you post really does help.
Thanks, Lee, Jim, and Jack! (Hope that's who "hangtree" is, since you leave no signature!)

The comments part is always the hard part: You try to be funny and some people take it seriously, or you try to be serious and others take it as a joke.
Some people seem in a rut, so you try to cajole a bit, but they're exactly where they want to be. Others seem to be doing well, so you give mild praise, then you find out they were ready to quit & needed you as an enthusiastic cheerleader.
Some people need to go out like gangbusters and then moderate, while others would burn out doing that. I always feel funny advising they slow down. Am I dousing their enthusiasm or putting them on an even keel? Am I helping prevent an injury, or hampering a rising star? And maybe it's none of my business - maybe I should just let them learn from their own experience, unless they specifically ask...
But my pop's a psychologist, and I'm a nosybody, and my advice is worth every penny you pay for it, so I will keep dispensing it for now, until you come to my house and step on my face with hob-nailed boots. At that point, I will give you only ONE MORE CHANCE! AND I MEAN IT! This time, anyway...

Hey all you TimBukToo-ers and TimBukToo-ettes! The season has gotten off to a roaring start with... yet another challenge!! May 1 - May 15 is the Marathon Challenge.
  • Choose from two levels of participation:
    • Full Marathon Challenge: Row or ski a full marathon (exactly 42,195 meters) in one workout during the first two weeks of May and enter it in your online logbook.
    • Half Marathon Challenge: Row or ski a half marathon (exactly 21,097 meters) in one workout during the first two weeks of May and enter it in your online logbook.
  • This is an individual challenge. (You do not need to belong to a team to participate.)
  • Meters must be entered online.
  • Indoor rower or SkiErg meters only (no on water/on snow meters please).
  • Meters must be rowed or skied all at once in one workout; you cannot combine meters from each machine to reach the half or full marathon total.
Get 2014 off to a great start!!
