Well, I don't know what those "Junkies" are hyped up on, but they vaulted into 8th place, so we won't be seeing them again! This has been a crazy WEC for me... Thought I had a good enough lead on my goal going into Passover, but between traveling & having my son at home, I fell behind by over 10%. Then, I basically caught up, had 49K to go with 5 days left, but my wife convinced me that I should go to sleep early Thursday, and come home early on Friday to row. Neither "early" happened - I tossed & turned & got up & drank tea & did Sudokus for over 2 hours on Thursday night... then I got home on Friday an hour & a half later than anticipated & just got in a half hour row without a warm-up. (Proud I did over 8.1K in the sitch, but it didn't get me much closer to my goal.) Saturday night was another dud, so that left me with 2 days, 41K to go!
So today, I did a Half Marathon with a 2K warm-up, a 2K cooldown, and another 1K for good luck... Did the HM in 1:21:17.2, which is my best time since last July & my 4th best of the season. (Last season, I did 3 Full Marathons & 20 HMs, and my goal was to match that this season. At the beginning of the WEC, I saw I was only at 1 FM & 12 HMs, which is why I've done 5 HMs so far in the WEC. Not sure if I'll be able to do another FM this season, but should be able to do 1 or 2 during the Global Marathon challenge at the beginning of May.)
That puts me at 285K, 95% of my goal for the WEC, so if I get in an hour before midnight tomorrow, I will have made it. If I have the energy to do an HM, that would get me over 305K, and I'd be up there with Pamela & Lisa and others who set normal & reachable "stretch" goals....

As of yesterday AM, I had 19K to go to reach my goal of 180K. I did 5K in the morning, planning another 5K in the afternoon. Then I started on the honey-do list which included taking out a hedge in the front of the house. All that bending over killed my lower back. By late afternoon, sipping beer and firing up the grill seemed a far wiser course than rowing another 5K. Despite last evenings overindulgence, I got in 5K this morning. That leaves 9K for after work...

It seems you guys need to train up your wives a bit better, what with all this honey-do list stuff and ladies talking you out of rowing... Here's how I've trained my husband: I say "I'm going to row", and he says "OK" and proceeds to his man cave, turns on the telly, and catches up on his recorded shows. Win-win!

My 12 year old daughter, and her entire 7th grade class, is down in Boston on a field trip, but all are present and accounted for, and ok. My daughter heard the explosions; she was that close.

Anyway, good rowing team! We surpassed 9 million in total and averaged over 150K per teammate! :D

Will do! I have a friend named Arla who didn't run this year instead had planned on sitting on the side lines at the finish line. No one has heard from her yet so if you all could keep her in thoughts as well. All the people who have been affected by this horrible senseless tragedy are in my thoughts and prayers! I've been trying to get over a severe reaction to a new med that I was given, I rowed 5k today to help deal with the heart ache I'm feeling from the happenings at Boston
