Sometimes I listen to the radio during my morning row... started to crack up when they had Billy Joel singing "... but it just may be a LUNA-TIC you're looking for ..."

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 3.20.13

Post by Kona2 » March 21st, 2013, 11:17 am

Image Good day for some MORE meters!

Here's a good blend of our two Challenges: March Mudness and WEC. Tomorrow's daily drawings for Concept2 will include two drawings for today's meters: the 5000 meter and the 10,000 m. We could use more of the 10K variety since we have slip, slip, slipped down to number five. Would be a travesty not to report that we were in the top five. Unthinkable!

For all who are hoops heads, today will mark the start of the March Madness field of 64 men's collegiate teams as they go for the big prize of being number ONE in the NCAA basketball tournament. The women's collegiate teams start their run towards the Final Four on Saturday, 23 March.
So...while you watch these teams play out...add some EXTRA meters so we can pop back up in the rankings. Please.

1 FRENCH INDOOR ROWERS TEAM Virtual Club 6,483,147 217 29,876
2 Age Without Limits Virtual Club 5,787,083 138 41,935
3 Free Spirits Virtual Club 3,677,650 123 29,900
4 RowPro Team Virtual Club 3,246,782 81 40,084
5 LUNA-TICS Virtual Club 3,063,611 68 45,053

Season meters as of 323/365 = 134,563,152 m

Total meters on the day = 517,933 m

Oars in space (participation) = 30 percent

Would that be looking forward to the Vermont and Colorado kind of spring weather....or the sunshine some of our teammates are enjoying? With the prospect of additional snowfall looming (yes, we are in a drought state...need rain and snow...but still), I'd say our Arizona, California, Florida and Mexico teammates are in the best weather seats in the boat..... :D

Thanks!

It certainly took me a lot longer to do my second million than it did my first. I had a couple of long slacking episodes that meant a few months of no rowing.

On the bright side, I met my weight loss goals this season. At the time I got my rower (end of April, last year), I had already lost some weight and was at about 200lbs, with a goal to get to 170. I reached that goal a few months ago and re-evaluated, deciding to go for 160. That last ten pounds was very hard, but I did reach it briefly. I'm just above that right now, and keeping it in the low 160's has been tough.

The short term goal is to stay on the rower and get ready for the marathon event in May. I have done a half marathon twice this season and found it challenging to stay on the rower so long at one time--more challenging to my patience than my body. My usual pattern is to do 5000m twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening, though I have done more 10k sessions recently in preparation.

Oh, and the weather here in northwest Arkansas today... Snow.

WEC Challenge...Uff Da!

1 FRENCH INDOOR ROWERS TEAM Virtual Club 7,766,120 221 35,141
2 Age Without Limits Virtual Club 6,860,367 144 47,641
3 Free Spirits Virtual Club 4,196,376 126 33,305
4 RowPro Team Virtual Club 3,953,041 85 46,506
5 LUNA-TICS Virtual Club 3,600,648 69 52,183

There are 124 teams entered thus far in the WEC. We're doing a great job with the average meters per teammate ! Lots of volatility in the Challenge at this point, but it will settle down here in the next week or so. Row as much as you can, when you can. This, too, is part of the March Madness !!

We have several teammates who are interested in a good horse race (and many things can be called a good horse race even when they aren't about horse racing :D ). Richard's reference to a great winning streak takes us to Australia.

Black Caviar is an Australian horse...a six year old star sprinter. She just won her 24th race, the William Reid Stakes at Moonee Valley. This mare is unbeaten in her racing career.

And Moonee Valley is located outside of Melbourne. Its earliest inhabitants were the Woi-wurrung people, and it is from their language that Moonee Valley's name is taken (but there is much discussion about what it means).
