Minnewaska is a truly spectacular place. Summertime you can hike/run/bike all those trails. You can go swimming in the lakes-they're crystal clear. Hidden waterfalls you can swim at the base of. A jewel of the Catskills. And brrrr is good-it lets that funny white stuff fall from the skies that you can have a lot of fun in

The white stuff that falls from the skies here is generally ashes, and you don't want to be outside breathing the air while THAT'S going on!The Blacksmith wrote:Minnewaska is a truly spectacular place. I just passed a million lifetime miles! I know its a small step in the big ocean of rowers, but a big one for me!Izzzmeister wrote:All hands on deck, mostly resting in their laps! 7 of 65 members (11%) logged 87,454 total meters Sunday!

Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
I am starting to feel a bit better about my rows. It is small progress but significant to me. This morning I did 1k in two 500 m blocks. That is a first to break it only down into two bites. Tonight I will do another set of rows to be 2000 for a total today of 3000. I have heretofore not done 3k in a day. My goal is to be at 5k by the end of feb so that I can do a 100k challenge for march. OH and I passed 15k today...so chipping away and learning. Always wanting to use good form!
I HAVE SEEN THE MOUNTIAN, SLEPT ON ITS GLACIER AND FELT ITS MAJESTY

"A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." And a cool million is many, many steps, sometimes painful, sometimes boring. So please give yourself an extra pat on the back from me!

Congrats Amanda, Aditya, and Karen for those awesome milestones! Caution: they get addicting! And congrats Smitty on the PB! That's a pretty smokin' time.

Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
I love hearing about all these PRs people are achieving! I don't post much on here, but I read almost everything because I find it very inspirational.
I've had some personal success on my rower, too, and hope to continue to improve, if even just a *little* bit. I'd like to get my 2K back to where it was before my last pregnancy/baby-having event. The good news is, I'm only 0.5 sec away from that all-time PR. Just did 8:11.4 the other day. It hurt like crazy, but hey, that's only temporary! These meters I've been posting since the fall are far more than I've done in the past. My immediate goal is to get in 1 million meters for the season. That's going to take a real push, but I know it's possible, so I'm gonna chase it to see if I can!
As for Campbell...we are in the thick of swimming season right now, so she's kind of forgotten about rowing. Even on nights when we don't go to swim team practice, she is busy with homework, practicing her saxophone, reading, and just trying to get in some play time. I'm thinking she'll get back on the rower once swimming is over. Feb. 23 is their last meet, unless she qualifies for districts (she's close) which are March 10. Time will tell. Also, maybe my other daughter will get interested in rowing. She's a muscular, tough little seven year-old. She could rock the rower.
I tapped my maples over the weekend. Sap is a-flowin'! I encourage anyone to try it if you have even a small desire to make your own maple syrup. It's easy, and you don't need to have sugar maples. Any maple will give sap for yummy syrup.
Enjoy the day,
Cindy

I hear it is a requirement to have your syrup quality tested. It just so happens that I am a certified maple syrup tester. Just send me a quart or so and I will certify the quality for you-at no charge. It's a tough job, but it needs to be done.
